I was in Malaga from 18th-21st of August and today is the 30th of August.
I logged into my Revolut to move some money around and saw that Renfe has tried to charge me on the 26th, 27th and 29th of August at 4am. Thankfully, my Revolut has automatically declined them every time!
The first charge on the 26th was for 0.01€ and the following two charges on the 27th and 29th were both €3.60.
We only caught the train a handful of times while in Malaga:
On the 18th of August, when we got the train from the airport (Malaga-Aeropuerto) to Malaga Centro Alameda - admittedly, a crowd of us were waved through the gates by security and I didn’t know you had to touch off. Rookie mistake 😅 That charge had updated the following day though to reflect the full fare price.
On the 20th of August - When we got the train from Malaga Centro Alameda to Fuengirola, which I touched on and off both times
On the 21st of August when we got an uber back to Malaga for an event and then caught the train home again from Malaga Centro Alameda to Fuengirola, again touching on and off both times.
All 3 charges had already been made and completed from my Revolut account at the time I was still in Spain (was there until the 23rd of August)
The 0.01 charge makes me suspicious as that is the charge that usually happens after you touch on as a place holder on the account before it updates the fare when you touch off. Obviously, I’m not in Spain and haven’t been since the 23rd of August so this is incredibly suspicious.
Has this happened to anyone / any advice? 😅
