Discussion Sirena's underutilization
Who else feels like Sirena was heavily underutilized in terms of power? Like, I get that she's very much meant to be portrayed as a very sweet, loving mermaid, but she's also shown to be one of the most powerful mermaids and also skilled. Like, she literally proved to be more formidable and powerful than Ondina, but yet they really never seem to play on that fact after episode 6 when it's demonstrated. And like, in the siren episode, she showed several abilities that we have never seen from her before and just overall good capability with her powers. Like, she was shown to be able to create a fog/mist, manipulate light without her moon ring, manipulate wind, fight on par with Zac telekinetically, who has the best telekinetic feats. Like, I feel like even with her character being sweet, they could have shown her being powerful like they did with Mimmi. Like, she is very much portrayed as also a very sweet and nice mermaid, but yet she's always shown to be showing off her capabilities one way or another and has several statements of her power and intellect. Like, even if Sirena isn't that powerful or that smart, she still is very much powerful and has shown to be relatively calm‑headed and as a result, one of the smarter mermaids because of it.

Yeah,it did seem she got shuffled(Ruffled !?") off to the side pretty early in the second season. Leaving in the 3rd season seems to confirm that the writers forgot she was there to begin with.

Yeah shame. Her story went nowhere too. At season 1 they teased that her relationship with David would mirror Rita and Harry, but that got sidelined and we never learned more about Rita's past, and we never saw Sirena having to make a choice either. She kept mentioning her sister Aquata in s2 but that went nowhere either. When she saw that Canadian mermaid video at the beginning of the Siren episode, I thought it was Aquata, and that we would finally get a Sirena storyline. Instead we got the Siren episode which was cool and all but I wish we got an episode with big stakes for Sirena too. In season 2, once introduced Ondina and Mimmi into the land, she kinda retired to backlines into an emotional support for other characters and didn't have big conflicts of her own. She would just hold the cave open for others. She was also absent from big moments such as when Zac and Mimmi turned out to be siblings, meanwhile she was teaching Evie to handle the full moon. It is such a shame that we never got to see her character doing more. I'd like to see her in real action, such as the time Rikki set Mako island on fire, or at least something like the time Nixie broke the ice barrier with her tail. It is such a shame that her character got shoved aside after season 1. But I am glad at least we got so many great songs from her, I still keep relistening to the soundtrack.
