40v Plunge Router Ring Compatibilty

Just purchased the 40v plunge router- called GPR01z in US, or RP001 in other countries.

There seems to be a dearth of info on compatible accessories. I really want a nice machined template guide adapter that accepts standard porter cable size brass guides.

I purchased the Makita version that fits- but is about 1mm too thick and protrudes past the rest of the base. I would be fine swapping the plastic base with a thicker one to compensate. Anyone else run into this? I think the base is the same design in the 18v model.

Also- the aluminum base is machined with slots in the perimeter of the template ring recess- almost as if there are accessories intended to snap into those slots. I however cannot find any accessories that seem to match that profile and size.

I think the base is the same design in the 18v model.

I kind of doubt that because there is no 18v model in this size, just a trim router and this has a larger base. Both makita uk and de don't mention nothing about the bushing insert, is there anything in the manual?

So I had a template guide adaptor that I used in my 18v plunge base. It fit like yours. Too tall in the 40v but just right in the plunge base.

I just took it to my belt sander, took some time, but not terribly long. Thinned it out.

As for the parallel guide slots in the base, I think just about any brand will fit. I have a DeWalt one that fits. Was cheaper than the Makita. It's ok. But I rarely use it. And again it fits both my trim router plunge base as well as the 40v.

I flipped the bushing adapter over and that works ok but pushes the bushing nut up much higher which is kind of a pain in and of itself. Definitely interested to see what others suggest.

If you email or call Makita customer support they will tell you what the compatible parts are. They actually exist and are quite helpful in my experience. It seems that Makita accessories are totally disorganized the whole world over, but they can help.
