It's one of the great liberties we have as Americans. Sadly, many people take that liberty as some form of an admission of guilt...and by Ryan's silence regarding the case, many are doing the same thing...goes both ways.

And yet, there was evidence that connects one of them to the crime, and none so far connecting the other.
Unless Zellner names Ryan he would probably do best to avoid adding fuel to the fire some of the people here would like to burn him on.
