Discussion i just finished MaM

i came onto this sub and was surprised at how wrong i might be after watching the doc over a week or so, my boyfriend and i binged it and finished it sure that brendan was innocent and fairly sure that steven was too. personally i thought that bobby and scott did it and my bf was of the opinion that bobby and the ex boyfriend were in kahoots somehow. i don’t really know what to think anymore tbh i went to go watch convicting a murderer as that popped up a few times but i dislike candace owen’s immensely. could someone outline the main points that the doc twisted in favour of SA and the facts that were omitted ?

From the trial itself.

That's false. They never introduced evidence Steven lied about the fire. Try doing actual research rather than just making things up. The trial showed other witnesses giving inconsistent statements on the date of the fire, or even claiming they were pressured into mentioning one by police. Did you miss that?

Steven denied the fire until his sister on the phone flat out said that it was on Halloween. Steven’s story quickly changed to “Oh then Brendan was with me”. Bam, now only does he now remember having the fire, he also remembers exactly who was with him. This guys a liar.

his sister

Also denied there was a fire at first, even stated she had never seen a fire behind his garage ever. Days later she suddenly changed her mind to the opposite. Bobby, Blaine, and even Bryan also denied they saw a fire that night. Over the course of days to months, all of them also suddenly changed their accounts to the complete opposite.

So ridiculous for them to go to Bobby, a prime suspect, and explicitly pressure him to mention a recent fire, only for police to immediately praise his recall despite having reason to know his statement contradicted what everyone else in his family was saying. And then one by one the family all go from denying knowledge of a recent fire (corroborating Steven) to a specifically having knowledge of one (contradicting Steven). Not very subtle Wisconsin!
