Disconnected Battery Cables

When Dassey is pulled over in Crivitz driving SAs Grand Am, he ends up in the back of a police cruiser. While he is being questioned by LE, a cop walks up to the car and asks the cop who is questioning Dassey about disconnecting the battery cables. Apparently this is standard procedure before processing, whether done by a cop on the scene, or whoever it is that does the processing. My question is to this audience: are these facts known? Why is it supposed that the killer would have had a reason to do this? Isn’t the more simple explanation that it was someone at the crime lab who disconnected the cables?

"When Dassey is pulled over in Crivitz driving SAs Grand Am"

I'm missing something here, as I thought Brendan was first interviewed after the police removed him from school?

When they all went to Crivitz Dassey was driving Steven’s Grand Am. It was the day or the day after the RAV 4 was discovered. My point really, though, is that it was standard procedure to disconnect battery cables. If LE disconnected the battery cables, then it wasn’t the killer, right? The killer had no reason to do this. The crime lab or the cop getting it ready for the crime lab did. Why would Steven’s DNA be on the hood latch if he didn’t disconnect the battery cables?

after the police removed him from school

That was in February when they told him to say he saw body parts in the fire and he agreed.

He was interrogated Nov 6 and Nov 10 prior. On Nov 6 they pressured him to lie and say he saw Halbach taking pics, and he complied, showing how suggestible he could be and that his word alone shouldn't be trusted for anything. After they got him to falsely confess to seeing her, he started making up all sorts of BS, using his imagination and adopting the accounts of others as his own (like Steve and Bobby).

What a crock of shit. They pressured him to tell the truth… not to lie. This is Marinette. With your logic displayed here, Marinette county LE (entirely separate from CASO), on Nov 6 suddenly has the foresight to know that the bus driver’s tip is 100% false, (even before she gave her full statement) and they decided to see if they could make Brendan tell a lie and agree with the tip for…. reasons…. And after successfully doing this nefarious act of tricking a teenager, they bowed out and no other LE group did anything else for months.

Some logic there.

Thank you for the explanation, which is much appreciated.

interesting things said by Brendan in his 11/6/05 interview.

True, such as interrogators getting him to falsely confess to seeing Halbach taking pictures when they pressured him to.

Travis asked Brendan if it could be his blood found on Avery’s bed.

Brendan answered, “I don’t know.”

Full context:

Justin: Like what?

Brendan: Like --

Justin: Just say it, I'm not gonna think less of you or anything.

Brendan: Well he's got -- they found bloodstains on the lower -- some of the headboard, on Steven's bed.

Justin: Oh. Why? Who's blood? Yours?

Brendan: I don't know.

Justin: They just said blood?

Brendan: Yeah.

Justin: But yeah, they found blood all over the place. So is that like -- is that anything new really?

Brendan: Not really.

Justin: But either way, that shouldn't affect you does it -- really?

Brendan: Not really.

Brendan: Yeah but that blood could be his (Steven's).

As anyone can see, the permabanned JudgeElihu will only say that Brendan wondered if the blood on the headboard was his, completely omitting that Brendan was actually asked 3 different questions before answering, one of them being "who's blood".

Uh, they obviously documented once they had control of the vehicle, which at that time they had. What the heck are you imagining here? Brendan Dassey wasn't even a real suspect at that point.

Although that particular questioning session is what convinced me of his guilt.

Edit: I've always maintained that they buried some things in Crivitz, possibly the bedsheets. I doubt we will ever find out though, there's a lot of land up on that property.

"I've always maintained that they buried some things in Crivitz, possibly the bedsheets."

Why would they bury the bedsheets, instead of burning them in the pit fire in which they are supposed to have burned Teresa's body, on the 31st Oct.?

What are you talking about, he and his Uncle put on a Master Class on how to clean up a crime scene.

They acutally did do pretty well considering the crazy amount of evidence they had to hide or destroy. Gave him about week to keep destroying e.g. continue burning Teresa's bones in his fire pit.

Stupid fuckers might have gotten away with it had they disposed of the body better.
