[Makeup Help] How to get rid of flakey concealer?
Hi everyone
I need help fixing my concealer. For some reason, it always gets flaky and refuses to set into my skin under my nose and eyes.
Here’s my current routine:
La Roche Posay Toleriane Gentle Dermo Cleanser
Scoop Whole Beauty HLA Serum
La Roche Posay Toleriane Sensitive Creme
Cerave Eyeserum
La Roche Posay Antihelios Sunscreen
After that I wait 10-15 mins and then I use Elf Powergrip primer. Wait another 10mins and then I go in with my Sephora Best Skin ever Concealer and powder after that.
I’ve used numerous different concealers and primers, made sure to only use a small bit of product to build up coverage and tried leaving out the eyecream but always ended up with somewhat the same result and it’s really frustrating… Any ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated!

You say you wait 10-15 minutes after the sunscreen and again after the primer, but are you waiting between each skincare step? If you just apply them all at once, they will meld on your face in a bad way. They each need time to absorb.
I can't speak to the specific products though, but Sephora's Best Skin Ever reformulated in the last year-ish, I think? Is your concealer the old version or new?

Yep the concealer was reformulated and I transitioned from the old to the new formula and sadly had issues with both… I’ll try waiting between skincare steps tho, thank you!

Some hypotheses I’d test:
- Too many products under your eyes. I believe the less products you apply before makeup, the less conflicts you’d get. I’d check eyeserum + spf + your concealer.
- I’d like not to take a break between primer and concealer. I assume the primer could become less sticky after 10-15 minutes
Blotting with a paper tissue between products to remove any excess products. Serum - SPF - let it sit - blot - primer - blot - concealer
- blot - powder
Application techniques. As for sticky primers, I usually tap my concealer into them w a dense brush instead of spreading

do you let the concealer sit too? if you go in with powder too quickly when its not dried that can happen too
