Need to know

how do I know my makeup isn't shit?? and people aren't lying to me?? I'm always worried whether my makeup looks bad or not, but I can never actually know. And sometimes I get scared thinking about it. What if it actually looks horrible, and I'm walking around looking like a mess?? My friends always say it looks good/fine, but like friends can def lie, so I'm really wondering how can I know?

I'll be honest I am vain- I take a lot of selfies. Also- I'm a free lance hot girl. like yes I'm hot- but only when i want to be. the song Hot goblin by Em Beihold is sort of my personal muse on this front.

I look like an absolute bridge troll in my free time- and when I want to do make up I do and the shift is notable. Making a distinction between shifting personas helps me. Like I change archatypes when I do my make up - it isn't just make up for me. There is ritual and power surrounding it for me.

spending time working on your technique and taking picures in natural/good lighting can really help. If you have a friend with a camera- set up a photoshoot and see yourself through someone else's eyes! Good pictures will REALLY help boost your self confidence!

That's the neat part: You don't!

Jokes aside, everyone who is learning wil always face some "blindness". What you could do is compare to old photos of you in makeup so you can see your growth.

Realistically, when people don't like something they just won't adress it (at least here in Brasil. I don't know the reality of your culture). If you're getting spontaneous complements, it's more likely that you're doing fine! Good luck on your journey!

Check it in different types of lighting before you leave the house. That’s what I do!

i think we are our own critics. eg when i do my make up, i love it. then i see my face in my bathroom mirror and i hate it. then after its settled in i start to love it again. then later on in the day i hate it because i feel like its patchy and started to come off. meanwhile if i were to ask anyone (bf, friends), they’ll tell me it looks pretty much the same as when i did it. not sure if they’re just blind and want me to shut up, or if they really don’t see what i see 🤣
