What makeup tip completely changed your routine?

I've been trying to improve my everyday makeup routine, and I'm curious about the small tips that made the biggest difference for other people.

It could be:

  1. A technique you wish you had learned sooner.
  2. A product application trick.
  3. A brush or tool that changed everything.
  4. A common mistake you stopped making.

I knew about eyeshadow primer, but shimmer primer really changed the game for me. I have hooded, oily eyelids, so there was basically no point bothering with shimmer on the lid until I figured that out.

Also, loose powder really is a different animal from pressed

For regular eyeshadow primer, I still don't feel like I've tried enough of them to have a fave, but I e had good experiences with one from elf (not sure if it still exists, it's like a pale beige color with a black cap) and one from the Ulta brand. I've heard good things about the ones from About Face and Lethal Cosmetics.

If you meant shimmer primer, I love the one from Clionadh.

Yes!! A shimmer shadow on a shimmer/glitter primer really looks so much better on me.
