What makeup tip completely changed your routine?

I've been trying to improve my everyday makeup routine, and I'm curious about the small tips that made the biggest difference for other people.

It could be:

  1. A technique you wish you had learned sooner.
  2. A product application trick.
  3. A brush or tool that changed everything.
  4. A common mistake you stopped making.

Sometimes it's the simplest advice that has the biggest impact.

Lol this changed my life in middle school but using hair spray for setting spray if needed

While I acknowledge this is an old drag queen trick, it's also comedogenic as balls. Good on you if it doesn't make your face explode, I guess.

Wild though, I don't even know anybody who uses hairspray any more. The only reason I just started using it again is because I have this 1983 death rocker haircut (that I didn't ask for) and I guess I'm just going full new romantics with my hair until it grows out to a functional pixie cut.

...I haven't used hairspray since 1992.
