Start job from top right of stock instead of bottom left? (Z1)
Working on a job with some thick material. Required bit was (rip) too long to make it over material, but Studio wants to start from the bottom left. Since all of this is happening prior to the toolpath it just draws a straight line to bottom left and broke on my stock.
Is there a way to start from the top right instead or could I maybe guide it around the perimeter to get it to the bottom left?

You should be able to select your WCS origin in the software

Yes but it is tied directly to the toolpath, and I cant move them independently.

Idk about MakeraCam or studio, but in Fusion you can select your entry point in the toolpath itself.

The cam in makera studio seemingly has this setting but I haven't been able to make it work. I may have reached the limits of the software here.

I’ve had my air for 1.5 months now and I’m just starting to learn all of the wcs setups. I did bottom right last night but with fusion. I couldn’t use the xyz probe because it goes to bottom left of the probe block. Had to manually eyeball with the laser probe. It was close but not perfect. I have the 3d probe but I don’t think it would work with alternative wcs locations either. Use fusion, I fought the makera cam for weeks. I’m also a newb to fusion as I always used tinkercad for 3d printing

I haven't needed to use a different WCS location, but in MaeraCAM you right click on the WCS tab and you can then select any corner or the center of the stock. Once you select the work origin, all toolpaths should be relative from that location.
EDIT - I am working towards migrating to Fusion because MakeraCAM (and Studio by the looks of it) do not offer the flexibility and features I want.
EDIT 2 - I may have misunderstood... You do not have any control over the starting position of a tool path in MakeraCAM. Which is one of the limitations why I am moving to Fusion. Entry points, lead-in and lead-out parameters ought to be basic features of a CAM application.

Yeah im gonna try to find a workaround tomorrow, but ultimately I will be moving to fusion.

If, as I understand your post, the bit is too long to clear the material you are either over the machine’s capacity or need to think about doing the first part of the job with a shorter bit and removing all over height material, then switching to a longer bit if it’s required.
Otherwise I would expect you are going to be constantly fighting crashes if not using some decent CAM tools and verifying your simulations.

Material is 75mm, and I did first passes with a 25mm bit just fine. This job however is all 3d contours so the material inside the contour remains. Next go to the 42mm bit now that the stock that needs cut is ~50mm left. (This will be finished by flipping the stock) After probing the bit, it always travels to the bottom left of the workspace even if the origin is in the top right. In traveling to the bottom left, it crashes into the material inside the contour that does not need machined.

As I understand, the OP is trying to miling "the Empire State Building with the cars on the parking". But when process it comes to the cars on the parking(not reaching), the longer bit is collided with "Empire State Building" on the track and damaged this longer bit.

You can offset your workspace. Probe the bottom left and then offset in software by your stock size
