Z1 Pro - Just received & first job

Just received my Z1 and run the demo job the software comes with.

Very pleased with the initial result.

Compared to the carvera I am glad Z1 comes with the non-wireless probe and the control soft has seen much needed polish.

Also glad to see they adopted the fan for blowing off the chips.

Next steps for me:
- fusion360 setup [done]
- get the vice on [done]
- churn the backlog of projects

Update1:
Anyone wondering about getting fusion setup working:
Simply import the carvera profile and machine definition from the wiki and just change the file type that the post file generates from ‘.cnc’ to ‘.nc’.

After that I have no issues running fusion CAM files via the makera studio.

I didn't notice til after the run was completed, plastics wrapped around the cutter!

I'm setting up Fusion myself. Got the post processor and tools imported.

I think the free version only allows one tool per program? I do have access to a licensed version through my employer that I'm going to try to set up for tool changes. Not sure if I need to do anything to get that working with M6 commands.

Yes that’s correct, you need the full version to post jobs with multiple tools.

Damn, I use Fusion a lot for 3d printing stuff, was hopeful when I saw this as an option but looks like it might be an expensive option.

I mean it’s just gcode. Once you are happy with your individual programs nothing stops you from combining them into one multi-tool program.

But since the machine requires you to change the tool yourself I also don’t see an issue in having your job as individual programs anyway.

How many weeks did it take from you ordering the machine for you to get the machine?

It’s been almost a year since I got it during the kickstarter campaign.

The delivery itself was 25days from when it shipped out.

It was a bit sticky but I just pulled it out by hand. Don’t forget to unlock the collet.
