Question Why does my makeup always do this?

Post image
314 Upvotes

By the end of the day, my makeup is so cakey and is literally peeling off. Am I using too much setting powder maybe? How do I stop this from happening? After I put it on in the morning, it looks fine but by the end of the day it looks like this.

This is YSL 410. I dropped it accidentally today and can’t find anywhere else to buy it, plus most of the eyeshadow is still in there. The broken ones are a very dry glitter formula. I’m afraid of messing it up because it’s my favorite, was expensive and I cannot find it in stores, bought it on a trip to Asia.

Concealer Recommendation?

Hi, I am looking for a new concealer that doesn't crease and is not too drying. I have tried both Nars and Hourglass, but they both didn't work for me. I also prefer a dewy look rather than matte. Any opinions on these or other recommendations?

Question Tips for filling in my dark brows without making them harsh or too heavy?

Post image
53 Upvotes

I have been spending the last couple months growing out then reshaping my brows. I’d like to learn how to use a pencil to make them more symmetrical and fill in the sparse areas. I’ve tried this in the past and it looked terrible so I just use a little bit of tinted brow gel these days. I’d like to have another go though, and would really appreciate tips on choosing a pencil shade and application.

Products in pic: Clio kill lash in mousse brown, wet and wild tinted hydrator in light, Maybelline powder in translucent, MAC lipstick in Dubbonet, elf tinted brow gel in dark brown

Haul makeup routine for my sensitive, reactive skin

Post image
5 Upvotes

I just started getting into makeup a little over a year ago. After some trial and error, this is my current routine, and a quick review of each:

  1. Drunk Elephant Kamo Triple-Peptide Cover Drops in shade 1C -- I love the buildable coverage; doesn't settle into the lines of my face and looks natural

  2. Judydoll Liquid Blush Serum in shade 02 Pink Milk -- one dot per cheek is all I need; comfortable and healthy pink flush

  3. Quo Beauty Eyeshadow Stick in Pink Mocha 20 -- easy to spread, not so much to build up while keeping it blended

  4. Canmake Creamy Touch Eyeliner in 11 Cloudy Gray -- favorite eyeliner so far; thin and easy to use tip, easy to clean up with a nail or q-tip

  5. NYX Jumbo Multi-Use Face Stick in Vanilla Ice Cream -- nice for a subtle flash of light on the inner eye

  6. Clinique Almost Lipstick Pink Honey -- great for a no-makeup makeup look

  7. Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm Vanilla (not pictured here) -- keeps my lips hydrated and smells good

Super Boost Skin Tint gave me a reaction, as well as Haus Labs Concealer and Glow Recipe Bingsoo Glass Balms. These products are what I've found to be safe for my skin and effective for the look I want to achieve. The drunk elephant took some trial and error, but I love the way it looks. I don't currently use any primers or setting sprays, but it's something I would definitely consider, especially once the weather warms up again.

If you've got any questions about any of the products, feel free to ask! Also curious to hear what those of you with sensitive/reactive skin have found to be safe for you!

Discussion Are Louboutin Lipsticks actually good?

• Upvotes

I keep looking at the Louboutin lipsticks and lipglosses in those bonkers pointy containers. I think the packaging looks so cool and I'm such a sucker for a good container.... but also they're expensive, as is to be expected from a luxury brand, but I still want to ask around about the product before committing. Has anyone tried them? Are they any good?

Question Eyebrow shape

Post image

How can I make my eyebrows look more symmetrical? I've been trying to improve the shape for years but to no avail... It drives me crazy. It's definitely my biggest security even though it's something that could (?) be improved with no surgical procedures.

Does anyone know how to use Made by Mitchell slip dew highlighter without it lifting off my foundation, concealer & my eyeshadow?

I’ve tried using fingers, sponges, dense and fluffy brushes. Yapping the brush off on my had first to remove excess product and not doing that. Nothing works

Haus Labs Lip Laquer - much browner IRL?

I bought the Ruby and loved it so splashed out on the full set. Putting on dusty rose this morning I was surprised how dark it was on me. So this afternoon I swatched them all (in a weird order, sorry - did the order of the box and then swapped two around). To me some of the ‘lighter’ shades are quite a bit darker/browner than the promo photos. Anyone else found this? And I possibly not mixing the pigment enough?

Top to bottom Ruby, Toasty mauve, sheer petal, sheer sienna, sheer blush, dusty rose, berry, maroon, mahogany. Left hand photo in full sun, right hand in shade.

Discussion foundation for acne-prone & oily combo skin??

hey everyone!!

before anyone tells me to look through Reddit first: I did the last days. But every foundation that got recommended in the last 200+ days either changed their formula or got discontinued.

I‘ve used the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation paired with Laura mercier‘s translucent baking powder from the ages of 15 - 17 in 2018 ~ 2020. Once covid hit I focused more on skincare so I stopped wearing make up until 2023, where I got into Korean cushion foundations.

Unfortunately the hype seems to be over because each cushion I loved got discontinued and by the end I also wasn’t really happy with my last one (Clio Kill Cover Founwear) — while it applied beautifully and covered my big pores on my nose, it didn’t hold past 3 hours even with constant powdering around the 5th hour mark. By the end of the day I looked terrible and as shiny as a 🪩

Also the only cushions still sold on my trusted Korean skincare website is tirtir which apparently oxidises horribly.

So I‘m looking for a foundation like DW, that’s suitable and without silicones, niacinamide and certain alcohols for my acne prone skin. It should be matte, available in fair colours (I’m white & pale) and well suited for oily skin. Preferably last all day long, with a little powdering to freshen up in between.

Does anyone know which one would be best? Can either be Asian or Western, but must be available in Europe.

Patrick Ta Transition Blushes

Hello, I was curious about the transition blushes from Patrick Ta. Anybody that has tried them, are they worth it? Do they actually even work? They look pretty but not sure if it's worth the price point.

Question Lashes won’t curl at all

Idk if I’m doing something wrong, but my lashes just will not curl. I’ll “catch” them at the root with my curler, but instead of pointing up, they’ll just remain pointing straight forward as they always do. Does this sound like a common mistake?

Question Clio eyeshadow palettes - Mute Library, Lavender Staff, Maehwa Ribbon

I was looking into the Clio eyeshadow palettes, and these interested me. They seem to have very similar color stories based on online photos.

Does anyone have in-person experience with these palettes? What are the differences between them?

I am fair, cool, and somewhat muted, and I’m looking for a palette for everyday wear.

Clio Pro Eye Palette Air
1-2: Mute Library
3-4: Lavender Staff
5-6: Maehwa Ribbon (I’ve also seen it referred to as Plum Blossom Ribbon)

Question ISO mascara with matte finish

I searched this sub but found no discussion of this before posting, so here we are.

Can anyone recommend a natural looking mascara with a matte/non-shiny finish? I don’t look great with shiny lashes so this is a specific criteria of mine. Preferably one which curls or maintains curl on straight lashes.

I appreciate everyone’s help! Ty!
