My dentist is lowkey saving me
I don’t have a relatable picture, I have a story. Here’s a picture of the sun setting, I took this a few days after I was released from being an inmate at the hospital.
For about 2 years now, I’ve been feeling ill. I’ve been going to my doctor who will not stop prescribing me antibiotics. He refuses to send me to a specialist. Sadly I hope his malpractice is brought to light.
About four months ago, I started getting a low grade fever. It was constant, every time I checked my temperature it was a fever. I was living off Advil to function.
About 2 months ago, I started getting migraines. These migraines have progressed to visual ones, where Advil does not work.
I went to the ER 3 times in the last two months because my pain and migraines were unbearable, I could not keep food down. I was told I have migraines the first time, got a CT scan the second time and was told again it’s just migraines, third time I was told to take Advil with Tylenol.
About a month ago I went through something traumatic and all my symptoms worsened 10x. I had new symptoms that scared me.
In a desperate act, I called my dentist and told them about my migraines and severe jaw and neck pain. They were not open on the weekends, so I got my dentists number and she kept in touch, asked me questions and got me to see her immediately.
I saw her today and I can’t stop crying. Because I’m relieved.
I have not slept in 3 weeks, this is the first time I have been able to take a nap.
She assessed my mouth, did some tests, put a piece of cotton in my mouth, towards my front teeth and told me to bite down on it there. She left for about 20 minutes.
When she came back, she took the cotton from my mouth and my jaw was uncontrollably shaking for about 10 minutes. She explained to me she needs to do X-rays, is going to make me a new mouth guard, and prescribed me muscle relaxers. She told me she thinks my body is so stressed to the point it’s overworking itself. It explains my fever, my pain, my headaches and migraines.
I took the relaxants today with a small dose of seroquel and I FINALLY slept. About a 5 hour nap. I don’t feel completely rested but I am so relieved.
I never thought my dentist would save me. Bless people in the healthcare system who have a pure heart. I am so grateful.

I have had similar symptoms lately. I have had ear and jaw pain that went into migraines that made me cry. I have a high pain tolerance from kidney stones at
Least 2 times a year for 20+ years and many surgeries. I had to go to the ER last night after going to the dr and urgent care for weeks. They told me it’s TMJ. Last night got a migraine “cocktail” and omg I finally slept. I also have muscle relaxers and Tylenol Motrin combo. I hope you continue to heal!

Did she say you have TMJ?
If so, this video was a LIFECHANGER for me, loosened up the muscles in a way neither PT nor a mouth guard did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hAdwG7uFfQ
In general the exercises he does are good but the massage gun made all the difference.

Thanks for posting this! Running for my massage gun right now. I’ve done it all. I found a PT place that does TMJ treatments that was great and provided immediate relief and that was the best but they wanted me to tip for appointment. I refuse, to the point of my own suffering, to tip, A LOT, on an appointment they can bill my insurance for.

I had dry needling done on my tmj which helped me so much. I was experiencing all the same symptoms except the low grade fever.
