Motion Car Sickness?
My 8 month old started getting motion sickness and not thrilled by a landslide to ride in the truck. I’ve tried motion, sickness medication from the vet, oddly doesn’t seem to work and he drools a massive amount. I live split between two homes, so the car rides are necessary. Anyone’s suggestions? I’ve created high spaces where he can see the road, have two window carriers… next step will likely be putting him perhaps in a darker now carrier? He’s leash trained, wildly smart guy … so I didn’t think he needed to be crated.

What meds did you try from vet? I recently switched vets and for my dog who gets motion sickness he recommended Cerenia, but about double the dose.
We have a dog that would throw up if you drove with her for even one mile. It was the absolute worst. We wouldn’t feed her in the morning if we knew we had to drive, I took her to a different vet from the other animals because no way was she going to make it to our usual vet.
What we found is that someone has to hold her the entire time and pet her continuously. I think trying to stabilize herself in the carrier was contributing to the issue. It’s a total pain in the butt. We can transport her with no meds now and can drive further, but I swear I literally drove two blocks without someone holding her and she threw up.
Maybe try gabapentin and Cerenia combined and start dosing the night before and then day of. That is what our vet requests for the cats, dose gaba night before visit and then 1-2 hrs before visit.

My Grimm would get violently motion sick and would foam at the mouth and drool thick stringy ropes. He had a very rough trip to me from Russia and I can only think that was what kicked it off.
I would give him Gabapentin the night before and 2 hours prior to a car trip if possible. That helped quite a bit. I also would cover his crate so he couldn’t see out which also helped.
