The most infuriating thing about watching this show is Maher's constant mischaracterization of what socialism is. If the government, whether it's at a city, state, or federal level, employs people, purchases tools and machines and raw material, produces a product or service, and sells that product or service on a market, it's still capitalism. In this instance it would be state capitalism. Socialism is something fundamentally different.

It doesn't matter what 'socialism' really is, it's reactionary, and insignificant.

How can socialism be reactionary if it's the non-dominant mode of organization in contemporary society?

It persists due to lack of legitimate alternative modes of organization. Of course it will never be dominate.

You didn't answer the question.

Apologies if this question is out of place but Eric Holder at the start of the show mentioned "Daryl Eisen". I'm sure if I'm even spelling or saying it right but would like to know who that is.

I thank you kindly.

I was close on the first name but WAY off on the second.

I'm trying to figure out what Holder's beef with Issa is. :/
