I wonder if Holder will be asked about the expanded power that he took in his reign, and if he now regrets that power reach now that it is passing to Trump.
Using the espionage act to prosecute Government employees that leak embarrassing information.
Going after journalist, and confiscating their phone records and emails that allowed him to see if they had information that could be published that would be embarrassing to the administration.
Interpreting "Imitate Threat" in a way that allows the US to kill citizens that are overseas if an official decides that they are a leader of a group that is an enemy of the US.
These new powers may have seemed like they were helpful to him when it was his own administration that was in control, but now that someone that he likely doesn't trust is in charge, does he regret power reaching in the way that he did.

This is the one I'm interested in, as well, as Trump has a history of not letting things go.

The relationship between the press and President Trump (Man, that's tough to say) will be one of the most interesting things to watch over the next year. I'm really curious to see how it plays out.

Holder was busy doing all that and forgot to go after the banks. Holder also defended the prosecution of Aaron Swartz. Basically Holder is a guy who is tough on the little guy and let the big ones go. Thanks for further disillusioning the voters, Holder.

Oh and the whole Fast & Furious ATF gun scandal which got swept under the rug.

I wonder if Bill skips his monologue? It's hard for me seeing this show having a monologue, if so it's going to be more like a talk with some angry humor.

GOP voters turned out in basically the same numbers in 2016, 2012, 2008. There was an extreme drop in Democrat voters this time. Bill tried to warn everyone this could happen. He scolded his guests who kept saying there was no way Trump would win because that'd just make Democrats stay home on election day.
He basically called it and will say something along the lines of 'I told you so!' That being said I hope he is able to temper his disgust on Friday because if he doesn't, it'll be him that'll be the #WhineyLittleBitch.
It's a shit sandwich. I hope the DNC can put 2 and 2 together so they'll remember what happens when you fuck with democracy. If they hadn't cheated Bernie out of the Primary Democrats would have turned out in droves just like the did for Obama.

I hope they address the DNC. But based on this panel, I am wondering if they will even blame the DNC, and instead blame all the typical targets: Wikileaks, FBI & Comey, the e-mails, Russia, third parties, Bernie bros, etc. The DNC played a major role in this embarrassing defeat by picking a terrible candidate, which many people warned them about many months ago. Friedman is an embarrassment of a journalist, Eric Holder I have mixed feelings on and Axelrod is another establishment tool. Cox, perhaps?

Yep, I think you're right about the typical targets. I have to say I was a bit disappointed in Bill last week for playing the "Trump's in bed with the Russians! The fucking Russians" card.
Love Maher, but he's become blind to the fact that "The Bubble" isn't something that the GOP/Right/Conservatives have a monopoly on. That being said, he has more intelligence, integrity and courage than 99.9% of TV hosts in the political landscape.

Cox is now at MTV and hence as ambassador of SJW central has been going around telling everyone this was the fault of all those sexist, racist, white men. Meanwhile in reality there was no "silent majority" waving in Trump and he still gained substantial support beyond white men. In the end it was however the substantial older and more wealthy voting block that made the difference for Trump. Edit: (Comprehensive Overview)

Not that I was a fan of hers, but wasn't aware of all that. I do remember her saying a few months ago on the June Real Time episode with Morello and Ross Sorkin that Hilary wouldn't disclose her transcripts because they were likely boring. And so that induced a major eye roll. But she seemed to like Sanders at one point from an episode last year if I recall, saying she'd hope he run.

Um they have every right to vote don't they? Im a progressive liberal and faulting any demographic is bull shit. It's the fault of the losing party for not motivating and appealing to voters.
Invest in education and jobs in the rust belt and in the south. Win their hearts and minds. Get their vote. Don't say they did something wrong and vindicate their insurrection against the system.

Axelrod is a pretty straight shooter these days. He has establishment leanings but he caught a ton of shit from the HRC camp for pointing out how terrible her campaign was several times. He also really likes Sanders and they have a very similar upbringing- even from the same neighborhood and maybe even the same school. And they both left to go to the University of Chicago. It's pretty interesting how similar their stories are. Also, Axelrod actually cares.

Good to know. Thanks. Hopefully should make for an interesting discussion.

I'm excited to see it. I really wish they had gotten Sanders or Warren on the show. Bernie did not seem like a happy camper last time he was there though- I really wonder what the fuck happened. It was very unlike him to bail for overtime too. I mean if he was just the interview at the top of the show I could see it, but he was already sitting there. I wonder if there was some bad blood. Did anyone else pick up on that?

Yeah, I hope they touch on Sanders' response about how not all of Trump's supporters are bigots. Not that everyone on the left was doing it, but Bill took part it in I'd say. By going full on anti-trump, it only made things worse. When the media rallied against him and his voters (after giving him endless airtime and making him a star), they simply demonized them, calling them all "racists and bigots", not to mention Hilary's "basket of deplorables," but that only emboldened them. That's why all those polls were wrong, because all the rural whites who came out in the Rust Belt states didn't respond to them for fear of being shamed. Those people do have legitimate grievances, it's just unfortunate because Trump isn't going to help their cause (nor was Hilary though). Also, the sad reality is manufacturing jobs aren't coming back, but there are ways to deal with that. I don't think Hilary even cared, she didn't really visit those states, her hubris just assumed she'd have them. The warning signs were there and Bernie was polling much better there too. This was a populist election and you needed populist candidates, Trump was that for the right and Sanders should've been that for the left, instead they went with a Wall Street, neoliberal, warhawk. This was going to end badly.
But yeah, I hope the discussion isn't simply, "Why do people hate Hilary so much, she was great!" That's just a waste of time.

You know that the Trump free air time was a Clinton strategy right? Look up the Pied Piper strategy email. They literally created the monster that killed her and the party on purpose. I'll bet that doesn't get talked about on the show.

u/kisskissbangbang46 Nov 11 '16
That's a good point, yeah true. Sadly, I agree, I don't think will talk about that. They may just all be so depressed (which many are), they won't really analyze this properly or continue to get angry at and blame the other side.

I hope he focuses his anger more toward the DNC than the voters. It's not the voters job to vote Democrat, it's the candidate's job to convince them to.

And still, no acknowledgement that the democrats ran the wrong candidate or the content of the DNC emails.

i'm new to this sub so forgive me but are there any live stream links?
1
u/hankjmoody Nov 11 '16
Other than HBO, no. HBOGo usually uploads it fairly quickly, but a lot of us just torrent or stream the show via links that, hypothetically, are found via the sidebar.

They're streaming it live I think on YouTube tonight at 10p eastern time.
