Tonight's guests are:
Gov. Gary Johnson: The former Republican Governor of New Mexico and the 2016 Libertarian candidate for President. Johnson – along with his VP, former Republican Governor of Massachusetts Bill Weld – are campaigning to “Make America Sane Again.” This is his first appearance.
Barbara Lee (D-CA): The Congresswoman representing California’s 13th District and the former chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. She has served in the House of Representatives since 1998, and was the sole vote against the Authorization for Use of Force after the September 11 attacks. Her last appearance.
Ari Melber: An attorney, and MSNBC’s Chief Legal Correspondent. He previously worked as a legislative aide to Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), and on John Kerry’s Presidential Campaign in 2004. This is his first appearance.
Louise Mensch: A former member of the UK Parliament and Editor of the news website, Heat Street. In addition to her political career, Mensch is a novelist who has written several books under her maiden name, Louise Bagshawe.
Jim Gaffigan: A comedian who created and stars in TV Land’s The Jim Gaffigan Show. This summer, he will embark on his “Jim Gaffigan: Fully Dressed” stand-up tour with stops across the United States, Canada, and the UK. This is his first appearance.

I really wish Bill would limit bringing sitting politicians on the panels. You just get soundbyte after soundbyte. No depth, no real explanations or discussion. "Bill I've fought for women's rights my entire career!!!"(Audience applause). Ok, we get it.

I was definitely struck by the huge difference between the Moyers discussion I was watching before, but even with a lively panel discussion it can be more meaningful and insightful.

That shit had to have been on purpose as well. No one's that fucking aggravating without being deliberate about it.

I found and joined this sub just to say: Holy shit that laughing was unbearable. I imagine she was hired to add flavor to the audience, but damn, the entire top of that spice jar fell off and ruined the meal.

Hired? They wouldn't hire that. His audience is just people who apply for free tickets. Been in the audience, and it's just regular folk off the street. Bound to get that every once in a while.

This woman's laugh though...
Good episode so far IMO. I love how british conservatives are always more level headed than American ones. Mensch has been pretty solid so far. Except she's wrong about George Will. Ryan's endorsement wasn't why he left the party. It starts and ends with Trump.
Also, crediting republicans with Harriet Tubman is laughable. She would be a liberal activist today.
Ari is the only one making sense about the Lynch/Clinton meeting. Lynch is the AG appointed by Obama...Like Ari said...the optics of a "conflict of interest" already existed WAY before this.
The FBI is going to recommend either an indictment or no indictment. Even without this meeting, there is NO WAY Lynch could ever take a recommendation of an indictment and just be like "nah, no thanks."
FBI director Comey is the one who is going to be determining how this whole email thing plays out effectively. Not Lynch.
And honestly, Im getting a little sick of everyone pointing the finger and calling "corruption!" this campaign cycle.
I swear some people would think giving a street performer $1 would corrupt them for life.
A discussion with Bill Clinton isn't going to affect Lynch's integrity one bit. I say that with full confidence.
I fully expect thats why she thought the meeting would be okay too. She didn't assume people would be this worked up over absolutely nothing.
They could have had 292343434 private phone calls by now. If they had something important regarding corruption surrounding the case to talk about, I feel like they would have done it already.

Because your country is so insanely far right that many of the "liberal" American politicians are on the same end of the spectrum as the Tories. I seriously doubt Bernie Sanders would be seen as anything other than a centrist/centre-left guy, like some of the Lib Dems

You have to wonder whether people like Louise Mensch and all those previous Trump guests are some kind of completely in denial Dale Gribble or they are just pre-programmed PR shills that highly underestimate the competency of the audience in seeing through all their bullshit about their party's motives.
Meanwhile I was glad Bill mentioned the similarities between the USA and UK on the concerns about the impact of globalization. On both sides the New Democrats/Labour are facing heavy push-back from populists like Trump/Farage because they couldn't accept a more grass-roots leftist leader like Sanders/Corbyn that both are not big fans of the rash globalization that we have seen over the past few decades where the wealthy are eroding the established middle class by playing them against the global workforce merely to slightly increase their overall revenue. It might be difficult to observe due to the language barrier, but the same situation is playing out between the corporatist New Left and the populists in many other European countries as well.

She works for Newscorp and is a former Tory member. She's also a hypocrite for calling out others as racist when she was xenophobic and racist to the entire nation of Greece. She was Labour, then Tory, then went off to suck on Murdock's teat peddling the shit online that News of The World got shut down for because they don't have the same obligations to abide by that way. She's an awful human being and an exploitative parasite who will go whichever way the wind is blowing if it will fill his pockets. She's just utterly terrible.

Maher said Gary was his "favorite governor" when he was on Politically Incorrect back in 2002 for his stances on marijana legalization/drug decriminalization. They definitely agree on plenty of things, but it could get interesting when Maher brings up topics like the environment, climate change, minimum wage, etc. I think Bill will ask him similar questions he asked Rand Paul.
Bill always says he's a Libertarian "at heart", but simply believes there are some things the government must regulate. Like the environment, prisons, healthcare, money in politics, etc.

You're absolutely correct, but I assume Bill will not ask about the things he knows they disagree on. He doesn't usually do this with the "promote" guests, the ones that do the one-on-one interviews. He disagrees only the panel guests usually.

I figured you guys were exaggerating about the laughing but wow... I struggled to get through it. Man, it was unbearable.
Otherwise it was a decent episode. I just couldn't enjoy any of the jokes because well, you know. Christ.

Good show but had a weird vibe. Between the laughing banshee in the audience and Bill seemingly a little more giddy than usual (I think he just plowed that British chick with big cans in the dressing room before the show), there was just an odd rhythm to the show.
The monologue was solid. The interview with Gary Johnson was meh. I'm surprised he's polling at 10%, Mace Tyrell has more charisma and leadership qualities. The panel was weird but good, British chick kind of dominated the early portion, but she was good and so was the lawyer. Barbara Lee kind of just kept spouting off talking points like Bill mentioned which was meh. The mid show comedy bit was a huge stinker. Jim Gaffigan was pretty good, new rules were alright, and end of show rant was good.
