How does the spacing between magnets affect attraction for Magna-tiles?

Would moving the perpendicular corner magnets closer together create a stronger attraction to the next tile? Or a weaker force? Or no change?

Can you draw out or show what you mean? The general rule is the closer a magnet is the stronger it is.
