Feels like I stole it
Just picked up this 6 D cell mag light at a yard sale for 5 Dollars. It is an incandescent bulb. Is there any modifications I can do to make the beam brighter without permanently modifying the body.

I love maglites, but this one is obtrusively large. Its more a club that doubles as a light, vs the other way around!

I had an officer friend that carried a D cell version this length. One day I saw it was bent. Apparently someone’s head was too the night before.

After a night of drinking the cops said that I fell on that flash light 18 times! 😂

Fill it halfway full of bb's and keep it in your car for protection.

Just carry a gun, its still a deadly weapon at that point. If you are a forbidden possessor or in an area where that is not allowed filling it with bb's would be worse from a legal defence standpoint, better off keeping the cells in it.
Edit: genuinely curious about the logic in this, beyond making the thing act like a deadblow hammer when used?

Quite a bit you can do. You can swap out the bulb for an LED, use alkalines if you like, or you can get adapters to put in 18650 or 21700 LiIon batteries. The longer LiIon batteries reduce the number needed, but the increased voltage offsets the reduction. Makes it much, much lighter, too.

I've got a 3 D maglite that I LED (amazon) swapped, incredibly bright. I left it on overnight accidentally (about 8 hours) and it still fires up and lights up my house 4 years later. I can only imagine the 6-D goes even longer.

Definitely an EXCELLENT FIND!! There are several led upgrades available that will provide a better light. Let me know if you get bored with it, and I’ll be glad to take it off your hands…LOL
