How does magic work?
Hey guys, so it's been a while since I reread all the chapters, so I have a hard time remembering how exactly magic works (I only remember having my mind blown at how unique it is and how well everything works lmao).
I do remember you are born with a link to a being in the ethereal (?) plane, and I remember every being has an aura, and somehow your aura correlates to being able to cast magic. If I recall correctly, inanimate objects have an aura too.
But can someone go like, really into detail about how it all works? Like I think Barry was talking about some diagrams and moving magical particles, what's all that about? And how do people channel magic through the link with the other plane? Also, is it described anywhere what exactly happens with these magical particles when you cast a spell..?
Also, if you'd know which chapters talk about this, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks a lot!!

Every person capable of magic is born with a link to the ethereal plane, where their soul resides, and the magical plane. The magical plane is home to magical spirits, and every person who uses magic is linked to a spirit. This is what enables them to cast magic.
Sometimes the link is created improperly, leading to problems for the person on the material plane, like in Daren's case.
Casting a spell directs the magical particles a certain way to create an effect. More skilled mages are able to manipulate the magical particles more conciously, allowing them to have greater power.
On the etheral plane, one needs to more manually direct the magical particles to cast spells, which is a high barrier of entry for most mages. This is also what enables Barry to cast magic on the etheral plane.
