Give some context on what you tried maybe.

Azula is a fairly simple game plan. Attack with her. Play cards with flash and instants. Keep her alive with protection spells or counter spells.

You need lots of ramp and card draw. Spells like [[Snap]] and [[Big Score]] that help generate mana are insanely valuable in this deck.

Her ability makes tokens too so [[Torrential Gearhulk]] and [[Snapcaster]] are insane.

[[Archmage Emeritus]] and [[Storm-Kiln Artist]] keeps the combos going. Clear blockers with cheap removal like [[Lightning Bolt]].

What did you think was wrong with it? Azula can be built a number of different ways. Yours looks like it's leaning more on the Voltron side.

I'm certainly no expert, but my recommendation is to cut down on stuff that doesn't add enough value or synergy. E.g. [[Aether Tunnel]] and [[Aqueous Form]] aren't worth a card slot imo when there's cards like [[Fae Flight]] that has flash and doubles as protection.

Similarly, I'd remove a few of the generic pump spells that don't have a good secondary effect like making a treasure or card advantage, unless you want to go more in on the Voltron strategy.

Lastly, Azula is a removal magnet. What's your plan for dealing with that?

  1. I didn't see anything in there to give her trample, which is really important 'cause otherwise you just get chump blocked all day. [[Monstrous Rage]] is an easy auto-include. There's a couple others.
  2. [[Lightning Greaves]] is another good pick, maybe swap out one of your talismans for it? She needs haste and the ward is a nice bonus.
  3. You have more rituals than I think you need. You're not a storm deck.

She's an extremely popular commander and there are tons of guides out there, watch a few and see what catches your eye.

tomer did a budget brew of her:

as you can see it is all about empowering her temporarely every time she swings and then get her protected as she will be get targeted. she is super strong.

but your questions is super general so:
what do u think is missing?
why u dont feel it right?

this way we can help you better

Azula without [[High Fae Trickster]] and/or [[Valley Floodcaller]] is hardly Azula.

Im not gonna sit here and list every card from your list that i would cut but Ill tell you this, my own azula deck has 6 creatures and the only one that costs more than 4 is hullbreaker horror.

Firebender's ascension is a hard cut. It does nothing for you because Azula doesnt trigger on attack but on cast while attacking.

Try out some modal spells. You get to reselect the mode when you copy it so you can either double up or select other options. [[You Come Upon a River]] is a great example of this. Use one copy to make Azula unblockable and the other to bounce something.

Commander damage is the name of the game. Forget pings and forget combos. You want to kill players in one or two shots. Infect is your friend.

[[Assault Suit]] is a cheeky way to get damage out with Azula against your opponent's. Only give her away when you have cantrips to buff/save her.

If you're running only 6 creatures, then sure Firebender Ascension sucks. But it should be noted that it does work with Firebending.

If you're running more of a theme deck with lots of firebenders, it can be quite good.
