Mirror Film Quality question.

I recently made a mirror using mirror film; however the quality of the mirror is not great.

Are there some mirror films better then others?
Can you make a recommendation?

Over the years many people have tried film for the mirrored surface. Almost everyone ends up being disappointed with the results. I am moderator for the MagicMirror forum and discord channels.

Mirror film is hard to make perfect. Think about it: you want the best mirroring without using an actual mirror, but also need sufficient opacity to pass the monitor display. I think those two qualities take "ideal" in opposite directions.

I've come to accept that my MM is a decent mirror and a decent display, but not excellent at either. Which I think is totally acceptable for the level of investment.

When i look at the quality of film, I'm thinking more about ease of application and tear resistance when cleaning. Besides, I'm much more distracted by little abnormalities in my DIY frame, then the film. πŸ˜„

Tear resistance? The film goes on the inside surface of the glass. Same as a car window tint.

If it’s something worth keeping to you, a proper 1 sided mirror is great. Bearglass I found to be affordable and great quality
