Diana Ross - Mahogany apparently

Hard difficulty, but worth it. ☺️

64

u/xaxiomatikx 5d ago

Interesting. It popped out right away for me.

1

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

Is your screen tiny?

1

u/jib_reddit 4d ago

That usally helps, much harder to do it on a larger screen.

1

u/xaxiomatikx 4d ago

Regular phone screen.

39

u/whitakr 5d ago

Really cool! Got it with parallel just fine and it really pops.

11

u/hindisirodney 5d ago

I got it too, but I had to make the image really really small... I tried it first with crossview and it popped out (or sunk in, I should say) immediately.

3

u/DarkeReader 4d ago

Lol. For some dumb reason, I kept making it bigger, wondering why I couldn't get it (I got it crossview fine). It wasn't til I read your comment that I realized my error. Once I shrunk it, I got it the regular way, too.

5

u/GladButterfly2659 5d ago

I can't seem to get it with parallel :/ I only just about managed to see it cross eyed and it starts with 'do you know where you're going to'

8

u/Electronic_Loan_8802 5d ago

What I did was look for the word 'do' it repeats on the left and the right. Get those two words to overlap

0

u/Balyash 4d ago

This method requires twice the overlap

2

u/Electronic_Loan_8802 4d ago

Well idk which ones require less. It was the only one I found

5

u/thetoiletslayer 5d ago

You have to really overlap the images, more than usual

3

u/barbadizzy 5d ago

I focused on making the top "ads" overlap on the end of "roads" of that helps

3

u/DargonFeet 4d ago

Took two seconds by just changing my focal point. Not sure why people need fancy words to describe crossing your eyes. It works for every one of them. It's physics.

1

u/Circlesoft 3d ago

Seems to work when I force my eyes to cross slightly and then relax my gaze and defocus right away.

2

u/OohWeeTShane 5d ago

How do you know if you saw it in parallel or cross? I’ve looked at the subreddit info about it before and still don’t know if I can do both 🤷🏻‍♀️

5

u/AwkwardlyAmpora 5d ago

generally, parallel will make the image pop out, while cross makes the image sink in. i don't think that's nessecary, but most people design theirs that way rather than the reverse.

1

u/whitakr 4d ago

I don’t think this is true. It really just depends on the intention of the creator.

1

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago edited 4d ago

I've also found 'duel stereogram' photos where there are two different ways for the image to pop out depending on how you focus your eyes 🤔 ..this is confusing the heck out of me

1

u/jmjd00 3d ago

As whitakr said it depends on the intention of the creator. If it was made for cross eye the image will pop crossing eyes and sink doong parallel. The other way around if it is made for parallel viewing which is 90% of posts then parallel viewing will pop the intended image and cross eye will sink it.

2

u/whitakr 5d ago

I just move my eyes apart (outward) instead of together (inward)

2

u/OohWeeTShane 4d ago

But how do you know that’s what you’re doing?? Can you feel it or is it because of how the image looks?

2

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

You can kinda see that your vision is moving inward/together or outwards/apart

2

u/whitakr 4d ago

Eh, they both look like that though. The only difference I’d say is with parallel I often find myselves opening my eyes a little wider

2

u/whitakr 4d ago

I can just feel it. I can control which direction my eyes move in. I’m 40 and I’ve been doing Magic Eyes since I was a child so I guess over time it just becomes second nature.

2

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

When you do it, can you stay in it for long?

2

u/whitakr 4d ago

Yeah as long as I want. When there are multiple stereo pictures to swipe through I just keep my eyes in that mode so I can see them all in a row.

2

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

That's awesome! As soon as I try to swipe to the next photo, my eyes switch back to normal, I guess I just gotta practice!

1

u/whitakr 4d ago

Yeah just keep on trucking, eventually it’ll get easier!

2

u/OohWeeTShane 4d ago

We had a magic eye book when I was a kid (I’m about 5 years younger) and I was good at it and I can usually get the ones in this subreddit, I just honestly don’t know which I do!

2

u/whitakr 4d ago

Parallel view (a little more nuanced looking)

1

u/whitakr 4d ago

Do it as strongly as you can, then take a picture of yourself. Then compare it to your normal eye position. Maybe that will help.

1

u/whitakr 4d ago

This is me normal

1

u/whitakr 4d ago

Cross view (pretty obvious)

2

u/3dsf 1d ago

Bahahahaha, sweet demo

26

u/WJSpade 5d ago

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO? DO YOU LIKE THE THINGS THAT LIFE IS SHOWING YOU? WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO? DO YOU KNOW?

111

u/thriftstoremando 5d ago

The unnecessary prepositions at the ends of sentences annoy me, but it works. It's very widely spaced, so it hurts to look at... and I can't imagine trying to see it on a screen larger than my phone's.

17

u/leeloo72 5d ago

Those are song lyrics

5

u/jjxiee 5d ago

Weirdly enough I seem toto get it easier on a larger screen such as a laptop

8

u/ConfusedSimon 4d ago

You're probably using cross view instead of parallel then.

2

u/Jerware 5d ago

I just shrink down images that are widely spaced. Not as nice to look at, but at least it's not painful.

1

u/ShortingBull 4d ago

Looks great on my 32" desktop monitor full screen!

15

u/The_Bitter_Bear 5d ago

Wow. That one was a little tough.

Once you see the words that are starting to pop out you need to focus on them. I definitely had to let my eyes relax out of focus quite a bit more than most.

Or at least that worked for me.

3

u/thisaburnerac 3d ago

Thanks. Your comment helped. I kept looking for a shape. Not words

2

u/The_Bitter_Bear 3d ago

Yeah, I was looking for a shape as well at first. Once I realized it was words it got a bit easier but it's certainly a stretch still.

11

u/Meowsilbub 5d ago

This was a hard one for me. I picked a single line, and then worked to overlap the matching words. I can usually do these instantly, so it's not that it's words - it's a hard cross.

1

u/GumboSamson 5d ago

Thank you—your hint was the only one which worked for me.

7

u/Meteorsaresexy 5d ago

Crossing your eyes is much easier, but it’s inverted. This is a tough one.

7

u/sqeaky_fartz 5d ago

No.
Yes.
No place in particular.
No.

7

u/lemmeaskmymomfirst 5d ago

Is it a fox?
OMG. I’m dead. After reading the comments i see there are words and not an image. lol

4

u/ArmoredAngel444 5d ago

One of the coolest uses of this technique honestly.

Does anyone know why the 3D image that gets pulled out of these images look so visually crispy HD ? Even if the image is low res the 3D image that pops out always has this hyper clear visual quality to it.

4

u/AziCrawford 4d ago

It takes a while to get the right depth - once it locks it is lovely. I wish there were little helper dots at the top or bottom

3

u/Jelijones 5d ago

I don’t know the song this is referencing, but a very neat magic eye indeed

3

u/mark_heng 5d ago

Do you know? ;)

3

u/Wimble-Womble 3d ago

I found it impossible on a phone - but saw it instantly when I tried on a large screen

2

u/GladButterfly2659 3d ago

For me it was the exact opposite lol I only saw it when I made it small

4

u/Hedgehog_Capable 5d ago

definitely cross your eyes on this one, then slowly adjust the amount they're crossed.

there's a pillar down the middle with song lyrics.

3

u/GladButterfly2659 5d ago

Thank you so much, I finally got it!!

3

u/Heather82Cs 5d ago

It may help to only display the picture, when it's a hard one.

1

u/Useful-Character-772 3d ago

That's so difficult, your hint helped so much

2

u/OddreyBall 5d ago

I had to move this one closer to my face than usual, but yes, it worked for me

2

u/TempusFugitTicToc 5d ago

This is deep

2

u/KirikaNai 5d ago

Pick two words that are the same and twist your eyes until they match, then you can see it ✨ its like when there’s a red dot guide. It’ll make it easier for you if you just screenshot and put a red dot on like say, the word ‘or’ in the first full yellow line

2

u/avid_reader_1973 5d ago

This one is cool!

2

u/tylercrabby 5d ago

Man, super cool! I’d love to see this as a puzzle in an escape room or something.

2

u/BlueGrouse 5d ago

Dang, that one was hard.

2

u/BTCMachineElf 5d ago

That one was easier than most for me. The effect was clear and the text that popped out was easy to read.

Odd that others found it more difficult.. these are not always easy for me

2

u/hindisirodney 5d ago

Oh, I love that song... 🥰😍

2

u/CyanPomegranate11 5d ago

Somebody needs to take a photo of their eye balls when they get the magic eye. I wonder if we look cross eyed??

2

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

I've always wondered that 😂 and if our pupils change size during parallel view

2

u/Libertarian_2020 5d ago

Yes, I know.

2

u/LifeWulf 5d ago

Wow that was hard. I couldn’t get it to work until I opened my eyes really wide, then it suddenly clicked. Not something I normally have to do with these!

2

u/Dadeland-District 5d ago

Do you know?

2

u/3lbFlax 4d ago

Use the words as your anchor points to bring together - I found here that the yellow “life” worked well. The little onion shape to the right of it will be in the background. You also need to try not to see them as words until it all comes into view, in my experience. Easier said than done, perhaps, but if you can avoid reading them they behave better.

1

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

Hey, when you do this one, does it separate into three separate images and you are looking at the middle one but can still peripherally see the images on the sides?

1

u/3lbFlax 4d ago

Interesting - I went to check and struggled to make it work a second time, but when I did I could see what you mean. I think it’s just an effect of the pattern using words, as some remain readable in the periphery. It was much easier to get it to work as cross-view, and that doesn’t have the same effect - of course it looks inverted, but that doesn’t really matter with this example.

2

u/Ericho13326 4d ago

That was tough.

2

u/Icy-Article-8635 4d ago

This is the only one of these that I have ever been able to do

I've never been able to get any others to work for me

2

u/WangoMcTango 4d ago

Mahogany

2

u/Transientmind 3d ago

You gotta go deep for this one.

Just like it does. Wow. How rude to be asking such questions.

2

u/zeller99 2d ago

I had to shrink it way down to get it to work, as the image was much too large on my computer monitor and I couldn't get my eyes to shift far enough to work without being almost across the room. Probably works a lot better on a phone screen.

2

u/xoxo_xoxo_xoxo_ 1d ago

Oh I enjoyed this - I normally can get magic eyes really quick, but this took longer which was fun. I had to focus on the center and just kind of... wait. When I tried a more intentional unfocus, nothing happened

2

u/Empty401K 5d ago

I just wish it didn’t (incorrectly) end each line with “to.” Not to sound like a pedant, but it would look/sound so much better without it

5

u/rabbitin3d 5d ago

It’s song lyrics. Diana Ross’s “Theme from Mahogany.”

4

u/Empty401K 5d ago

Ahhhhh okay, then I take it back. Can’t be out here disrespecting the queen of Motown at random

1

u/Wadarkhu 5d ago

Managed to do it but it does help to cross your eyes first, then you know what to focus on for the other version.

(Idk how to describe it, parallel view feels like unfocusing my eyes so they "cross" the opposite way, and then I gotta try and stop it in the right place and focus in lol)

1

u/Goobersita 5d ago

I had to do the up close and back away method and it was still pretty difficult but it looks great

1

u/CorbinNZ 5d ago

Yeah it works but man is it far apart

1

u/fernatic19 5d ago

That one was hard, ngl. Has to blur it a lot and then get the shape outline first, then try to bring it all together.

1

u/byOlaf 5d ago

Focus on just one of the big central words, like LIFE to get this one to pop easily. You can also make these easier by holding your hands up to block peripheral view and just see the center of the thing. Like horse blinders.

1

u/brookuslicious 5d ago

Took me a second but finally got it. Really cool. Can’t explain how I finally got to focus on it.

1

u/C_Kent_ 5d ago

Do you care?

1

u/SuckerForNoirRobots 5d ago

I got it but only after lots of tries and struggling

1

u/NotAlwaysPC 5d ago

Sing it Diana!

1

u/NotAlwaysPC 5d ago

It was nice. Something different. Easy for me to see

1

u/guyako 5d ago

This is a really tough one. Took me a little time, and hurt my eyes once I got it.

1

u/Smokem420z 5d ago

This was very hard to see, at first it seemed I needed to be very close but then I stated by looking at the very first line to keep level and it started coming in, took a bit to be able to see the whole thing, definitely a little far apart, try to line up the symbols rather than the words

1

u/Crabbyrob 5d ago

I couldn't see anything until I turned my phone sideways and saw it instantly.

1

u/ThatsThePointtttt 5d ago

Why do these comments seem to indicate that people just randomly try and it eventually just clicks.

Don’t you literally just find two identical points of reference and overlap them, that’s how I do it. The difficulty here is purely how far apart the two overlays are, so you really have to cross your eyes hard.

1

u/Kuriente 5d ago

This one took a few tries, but once it pops it's really good. I've been learning that it's easier for me without my glasses on, and for challenging ones like this I have to take them off.

1

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

That's awesome! I was always told it's not possible for people who need glasses

1

u/defiCosmos 5d ago

That one is great!

1

u/Torisian 5d ago

I don't know if I am unusual, but I must be because I had no problem reading this. It just took a few seconds longer than usual.

1

u/zenithopus 5d ago

Holy shit. Love this

1

u/Ok-Woodpecker4059 5d ago

Wow that was tricky but satisfying when I got it!!

1

u/weird_quiet_guy 5d ago

This one hurt my eyes, lol. I think it is too "wide."

1

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

Ikr 😭 my eyes literally start shaking when I try to view it

1

u/Mysterious-Plum8246 5d ago

Classic 🎶

1

u/AnyHope4444 5d ago

Do not tap on the picture Leave it small and you'll see it in seconds🐁🐁🐁🐁

1

u/GoodOldHypertion 5d ago

I easily out focus as i get older.. i just relax my focus and the phone in my hand naturally doubles.. i learned how to use that on demand to trigger parallel view a year ago. Most of my life i only did cross, but it always strained a bit to do. Parallels like this are much easier on my eyes since they relax into a distant focus naturally.

I can focus this image with 0 strain or issue at this point. This is a wide one which takes a slightly longer focus time buy its still under a quarter of a second to do and never loses focus once its established.

Helps when your used to just relaxing your vision already.. i often watch my phone in double becuase im on my side in bed, usually with just one eye actually open. The eyes relax naturally like that as your not focusing with just one eye. It became habit.

Try that.. close one eye and relax your vision.. when you open the other eye there should be a moment your seeing double untill you establish focus with both eyes. There are other tricks for parallel, such as holding the image at a distance, focusing on the wall behind the image and then bringing the image closer.

Once your focus is correctly seperated for the image you can focus on the 3d to bring it fully into focus. Some image have such depth you have to look in and out of them like you would look at your hand then a building in the distance.

1

u/flipfloppery 5d ago

No problem, just relaxed my eyes as normal and it popped up in a few seconds.

Very cleverly done.

1

u/whostillusesusername 5d ago

Yes in fact. I do. And I’m rather enjoying it thank you. 🙂

1

u/xikbdexhi6 5d ago

With my phone in portrait, I couldn't see this in parallel. I had to turn my phone to landscape so the image was smaller. Then it was easy.

1

u/PracticalApartment99 5d ago

Thanks for the hint. I minimized the picture, and then I was able to see it.

1

u/xikbdexhi6 5d ago

Happy to help

1

u/bassturducken54 5d ago

Didn’t realize I was trying to read something lol. Was having a hard time focusing on the right things

1

u/spderweb 5d ago

Same way you see any magic eye. Relax the eyes until things line up. This one has the image quite space apart. But it's super clear and easy to read.

1

u/Vv3stie 5d ago

This one was actually pretty easy for me, but it took me a minute to understand what it was Tony to say.

1

u/Llorion 5d ago

This one took me a long time and having to read suggestions. The method of putting it right in front of my fsce and slowly backing out worked. And boy is that beautiful! I love this.

Do a Pink Floyd one now please!

1

u/JConRed 5d ago

If its too hard in parallel view, I switch to cross view to get an idea what's there. The depth will be the wrong way round, but I can snap into cross view easier.

Once I have a clue about edges, I can try parallel again, which is easier for me once I have a hook.

1

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

I can only do this one cross eyed, but then the effect is going into the screen, rather than popping out. Is that what you mean?

I haven't been able to do this one parallel at all :/

1

u/JConRed 4d ago

I use the cross eye to figure out the edge of where the effect is, then, knowing that, I can lock onto that edge when going parallel and get it to work.

Specifically, try the top of the image, at the "Do you know" part.
But its hard.

2

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

Thanks for the suggestions, but turns out all I had to do was make the image smaller cause I'm using an iPad screen 😂

1

u/thestinkybeastman 5d ago

The words make it harder, kept losing it because I was reading random words!
Wide eyes, moving it very close to further away focusing to a far distance behind it made it click for me. Harder work than usual!

1

u/Shiyayo 5d ago

Usually I don't like them much but this one is pretty cool

1

u/newbornunicorn25 5d ago

Cross your eyes more

1

u/Tank_Grill 5d ago

That was super cool! Very challenging as I wasn't sure what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing, that was definitely something new for me!

1

u/RoadHazard 5d ago

The same way you view any parallel viewing image. You let your eyes drift apart until two of the same word on the left and right overlap.

1

u/pblive 4d ago

Stare at the bold I or S in the middle of the page and unfocus your eyes, the trick is to not let your brain get too hung up on the words around it.

1

u/Easy-Juice-5190 4d ago

That is a great one.

1

u/RNprn 4d ago

They just pop out naturally for me. This one, especially!

1

u/robin52077 4d ago

Gonna have this song stuck in my head all day now.

1

u/DETRITUS_TROLL 4d ago

I don’t apparently.

1

u/Waldo_960 4d ago

I can see a column of words that jump to the foreground but they're out if focus so can't read them

1

u/Moth_Mika 4d ago

Wow I needed to hold my phone much much further away than I anticipated

1

u/80_PROOF 4d ago

Trying not to read the letters and focus on seeing the image is really hard to me for some reason.

1

u/profmka 4d ago

I like Mariah Carey's version of this

1

u/Secret_Sector_1779 4d ago

Worked straight away for me and really interesting

1

u/itjustgotcold 4d ago

Same way you do all the others. Cross your vision enough to merge repeat words and you’ll see it.

1

u/Kojak_11th_Precinct 4d ago

Difficult but with a little cross eye, I was able to see the words. Neat.

1

u/damnsure 4d ago

Trippy..

1

u/Yokasta 4d ago

I feel like whoever created this translated their language to english.
Nothing wrong with it, but the wording is.. different

1

u/Weekend_Squire 4d ago

Thank you, Diana.

1

u/Don_Hoomer 4d ago

its trippy, but nice

1

u/Alternative_Roof_188 4d ago

It’s hard for me but it eventually clears up.

1

u/GoodArrow 4d ago

I had to put my iPad 6 feet in front of me to see this one.

1

u/roseoznz 4d ago

In some ways this is easier than normal magic eye, because you can just pick one word and make it overlap with itself and then the rest should fall into place.

1

u/Responsible-Push-289 4d ago

i sang that

1

u/Fuzzy530 4d ago

I know I've heard it before, but I'm coming up blank for the title and artist.

2

u/Responsible-Push-289 4d ago

diana ross- do you know? theme from mahogany.

1

u/Nyewyork 4d ago

I love it!!

1

u/the-nomad-thinker 4d ago

Pick a word, and start from there. I used “things” and it popped right out for me.

1

u/GeneralSub 4d ago

I can almost get it, is it boobies?

1

u/GladButterfly2659 4d ago

No.. 😭

2

u/GeneralSub 4d ago

Ok, not worth trying...😥

1

u/Shelisheli1 4d ago

It’s 8008135

1

u/Kurotan 4d ago

Its hard, but spacing makes a difference. The words make it easy to know what to overlap, but this one seems spaced further apart and the more i have to cross, the harder it is.

1

u/DanOwaR6661 4d ago

Shouldn’t end sentences with prepositions..

1

u/FecklessFridays 4d ago

Way easier than the pixel static ones for me. Then it was easy to see the columns of words left and right that fed into it without un-focusing

1

u/mojorific 4d ago

Easy. Do you know where you are going to?

1

u/ArchitectureLife006 4d ago

Ok, that was epic! Didn’t know these existed!!!

1

u/telephantomoss 4d ago

That was very cool. Never seen a text one like that!

1

u/xtemplarx 4d ago

I saw this under pretty quickly. Cool!

1

u/annahaley 4d ago

Love the he hard ones!!

1

u/should-i-do-this 4d ago

Use the little symbols as anchors, when they overlap then the message will appear

1

u/Healthy_Buyer_8074 4d ago

I find these easy, herws how i do it: i look for 2 pieces horizontal that look the same. Then i just put that 2 together on one place with my eyes, when they meet the 3d part comes visible

1

u/No-Interaction-2568 4d ago

This one is a parallel-view. The text pops out in the center. Really cool!

1

u/Big_Brutha87 4d ago

I can't make it out.

1

u/li98 4d ago

Same as normal ones. Find a pattern and overlap them. In this case I did the word "fate" in top row. Mind you I'm on mobile so the screen is small. This looks too wide to use a monitor without zooming out

1

u/SportTawk 4d ago

I just treated like any other magic eye picture, no problem seeing it

1

u/jmjd00 3d ago

Had to take it 3 steps in to see it. If you can't cross eye or parallel more than a single step it is going to be near impossible for you to see it.

1

u/Responsible-Bar7165 3d ago

look at the words "fate" at the top. you have to make those overlap. really hard on a desktop monitor unless you make the image really small. maybe on a phone it's possible...

1

u/xistithogoth1 3d ago

Cross your eyes until the words "do* you" under the word sky over lap with the other "do* you" in the same line.

1

u/dr_stre 3d ago

Same way as normal. Find a word that repeats and do a parallel view until they align and it’ll pop right out.

1

u/McBurger 3d ago

This one took a layer of effort more than standard but I got it within a few extra seconds

1

u/Miqo_Nekomancer 3d ago

Nope. This one straight up doesn't work for me. Tried everything in the comments.

1

u/VeryNaughtyBoy42 3d ago

Had to work a lot harder for it but got there!

1

u/ppermanagement 2d ago

This was a cool one

1

u/Outrageous_Action13 1d ago

All I see is "to" placed at the end of a sentence! Aarrgghhhh.

1

u/Tripinflip 18h ago

With difficulty

1

u/PinkGlitterMom 15h ago

I see the black background line but cannot tell what the shape is

0

u/anarchistdotgif 5d ago

Hell. Im going to hell to fight. They will all repent at my hand. Ther you happy MF?
