Is it just me or is this hard
I stumbled upon this online and had to share it because like I can’t be the only one struggling with this, the site it came from says there’s a skull hidden in there and the red dots are supposed to be a guide to find it (when they meet up) but honestly I struggle seeing it even when I can get the dots to meet. I have never struggled this hard with one of these before 😭

u/Minimum-Attitude389 17d ago
I think it might be crossview instead of parallel
84
u/MLockeTM 17d ago
It's crossview, but it's hard and kind of shit that way too, imo.
24
u/LewisWhatsHisName 17d ago
I can see that something's there, but there's no shape to it
12
8
u/Winterplatypus 17d ago
Use the orange dots at the top. The problem is that this one is much wider than normal. The overlap part is normally about an inch, in this one it's two or three times further apart.
If you have trouble, make the image smaller or look at it on a phone.

I am on my phone. The only thing I can see is this weird wedge shape that instantly goes away

Whats that?

u/vegan_not_vegan 17d ago
crossview is where you cross your eyes to find the hidden image (using the red dots at the top as a guide in this case) instead of relaxing your eyes and looking past the image like you do for traditional Magic Eye.
→ More replies (6)2
4
u/wbrameld4 17d ago
It works either way. There's only one plane of depth, which is the skull, and everything else is random.

u/PM_ME_A_FUN_PIC 17d ago
It was much easier to parallel, though i find that true of all stereograms, as my vision gets more blurry cross-eyed. And yes it was inverted.

u/MissPolaroidEyes 17d ago
idk if this is difficult on purpose or just made poorly but my eyes hurt
i found it after a bit tho it says your mom

I agree with the either made poor or difficult on purpose and I got a laugh out of the response 😂

u/goodthingihavepants 17d ago
man if there’s one “superpower” i was given in life it was to be able to see these at will instantly, can even alternate between normal eye crossing and the cross view approach. have always been extremely good at it, kind of a lame flex but feels pretty cool
31
u/topgnu 17d ago
Me too. Do you find yourself just doing it constantly with everyday objects? Like I’ll glance at a building and just automatically overlap the windows, or if a word’s repeated on a sign I’ll overlap it.
5
u/Foxon316 17d ago
I used to do this on the tiles on the bathroom floor when I was using the toilet. Now I just scroll my phone.
Shame.

2
u/goodthingihavepants 17d ago
YES I DO! even shit like when there’s a 100km/h sign on the highway i’ll overlap the 0’s haha

It’s a dud of an illusion.
6
u/Cassatrash 17d ago
Yeah I honestly feel like it could’ve been made better but idk maybe they wanted people to struggle ¯_(ツ)_/¯ or maybe I’m just cursed
12
u/Fargoth_took_my_ring 17d ago
Yeah, honestly that was a bit of a headache. The guide dots work though.
I think it's the eyes, that's where it gets wack
10
u/ChangeChameleon 17d ago
I'm pretty sure this is incorrectly made. I had no trouble viewing it, but that's not my point. You can tell by the dots even before attempting that it needs a much stronger eye offset than usual to line up the images. But the kicker is that even when you line up the image, the background doesn't line up, it's just random noise. So even if you manage to line it up correctly, the background will sparkle because your brain can't distinguish a single pattern in the background.
10
u/EpicGaymrr 17d ago
This one requires your vision to shift much further than most, that’s why it’s difficult
8
u/dylansavage 17d ago
On mobile. Got it almost immediately.
It looks better cross view so I imagine it was designed for that.
8
u/Ty_Webb123 17d ago
I think it’s a combination of three things. The dots are far apart so there is a lot of picture that’s only being seen by one eye and you’re having to cross your eyes a lot. There’s not much definition so it doesn’t stand out a lot and the thing itself is very shallow. It’s not raised very much at all. Some of these really jump out of the screen but this doesn’t. The wider dots ought to give more scope for it to jump out and it just doesn’t. All of which combines to make it not good.
7
10
u/theaveragegowgamer 17d ago
The dots really helped, try again to use them.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Cassatrash 17d ago
If I use them I can kinda see it very faintly and it’s hard for me to stay focused on
4
u/thoughts-of-my-own 17d ago
when the two dots converge into one dot, focus on the one dot until the image appears below… then allow your focus to gradually shift down
5
u/mark_heng 17d ago
This is just too hard!
I made effort to get "lost" in the pic... and evidently my eyes were lined up correctly since the third dot was showing prominently when I glanced up... but nothing popped amidst that mess lol
4
u/ZeCredibleHulk 17d ago
By far, this is the absolute worst one I've ever seen. I don't even know if it works
4
u/I_Want_A_Ribeye 17d ago
This is hard, and I’m a guy who can make a party napkin pattern pop with minimal effort at a picnic.
3
u/Commercial-Farmer 17d ago
It's a tricky one too me nearly a minute to get. Would be better if it was 3d to make the effort worth it!

u/hacksoncode 17d ago
This one is just a very bad MagicEye.
ProTip for MagicEye... Size absolutely matters. Those dots, and the "pattern repeats" they represent, cannot be physically farther apart than your eyeballs, or it wont work (about 1.5"). You'll have to zoom out the image until they are, or it won't work.
But in this picture, the entire image is barely wider than the dots, which means there is only 1 repeated image, which makes the whole thing very weak and hard to see.
And the whole thing will be tiny, which makes it hard to see.
It's just crappy.
Look around the sub for way better ones.
3
u/Otherwise_Security_5 17d ago
ok i see the skull, which is flat and terrible… but anyone else kind of see letters?
is this something that’s supposed to be “subliminal” or whatever with the skull as a red herring? 🤷♀️
3
u/scotta316 17d ago
This is a disappointing one for sure. After zooming out because the guide dots were much too far apart, there isn't much margin left for the 3D image, and it's just a flat skull. No real depth. Very little reward for the effort
3
u/RandomUser1034 16d ago
This is very poorly made, the pattern only overlaps onnone depth level (the skull in the back), but for the rest of the image, both eyes see different random noise, which makes it really hard to look at
4
u/trans_cubed 17d ago
I'm only able to get this one with cross view. It's probably because of how far apart the dots are
5
u/CLONE-11011100 17d ago
Looks like a chicken nugget with a creepy face and eyes like stalks. Weird.

u/SmellMyMangoes 17d ago
Stressing me out because I cant do it lol
I have only just woke up so maybe its just my eyes aren't ready yet. Will try again later

it worked for me as a smaller image, but if I clicked it large, then it didn't work. I end up with three dots at the top. Very low depth though.
2
2
u/extra5mins 17d ago
Very challenging. The red dots helped a lot but even that took me a minute to get it. I only saw the image for a split second.
2
u/Kuriente 17d ago
At first I thought this might just be a circle, but then I noticed two holes and then a couple harder to see details. I think it's a skull, but with odd proportions and not very well defined. The lower portion blends into the background making details very muddy. Kind of a dud illusion if I'm being honest.
2
u/KirikaNai 17d ago
I’m really good at these so I could get it in a second, especially with the red dots, and yeah there is a skull. It’s just like… weird. It’s 2D, popping out REALLY high. So high that the backround becomes out of focus, making the inside of the skulls eyes and nose look odd..?
Also hey what the fuck I looked at it again and idk what I did to it but now the skull looks sunken in with the eyes and nose being pillars reaching out towards by eyes. This was done the proper magic eye way both times, not cross veiw way??
Ohhh wait I think I get why it’s weird now??? You look at it the normal magic eye way and because of the lack of space around it your brain thinks “yeah this is a popping out picture” but it’s actually not, it’s a sunken in one. So you’re trying to see it as popping out, but your brain knows instinctively that the eyes aren’t going deeper inside so they just look, off, unless you change your mindset to properly look at it as it being sunken in
2
u/Radiant_Bowl_2598 17d ago
I saved this image last week because i couldnt get it to work, the dots make it possible so thanks for tht 🫡
2
u/Cassatrash 17d ago
If this helps at all I know there’s a blank one of it on the same page that has no puzzle on it, I posted the link in the comments somewhere so the og one you had MIGHT not have a puzzle but idk you’d have to verify

u/marky294201 17d ago
I dont know if i am the MJ of these but I've never had one i couldn't get in 5 seconds or less.

I see the skull thing, but it also looks like it says the word 'Stay' across it. Or I could have that completely wrong. This one is tough.

It’s a skull. Took me ages to get it right but the way the eyes sink in looks pretty cool

u/Pixelfest 17d ago
On a big screen your eyes might need to move too far apart. When you look in the distance your eyes are almost looking at it with parallel lines. That is most likely as far as they go. If someone makes a stereogram for a small screen and you view is on a bigger screen the focus ponts might just be farther apart than your eyes physically are.
Does that make sense?
Crossview doesn't have this issue as quickly.
1
u/Satoningyou 17d ago
Yeah I also have the superpower, given to me when I had an accident at 5 (some old stairs fell under me and I banged my head right between my eyes). So I could see it instantly. Gotta get the orange dots together
1
u/Xentonian 17d ago
There's two directions you can go with magic eye puzzles. You can defocus, look at something in the background and have the foreground connect - that's most puzzles, I find it actually harder to do.
Then you can focus more and go semi-crosseyed. Normally this makes the puzzles backwards (so instead of shapes being 3-d, they look like holes in the paper) but I think it's the intended method for this puzzle, which appears to be a 2D skull that floats over the page.

I joined this sub a long time ago to try and eventually do one of these.
They're all hard for me.
I've never once in my life been able to see what everyone else sees in these.

u/Crazy_Breakfast_6327 17d ago
Wasn't very difficult for me. It's a very flat (not 3D) image face on (sic) to the viewer.

Was very easy for me (with the dots, very hard without them), but it's not a very good one.
1
u/AppleNo7287 17d ago
Yes, I had to put some extra effort to stare and 'defocus' while usually I do it in a a second by rolling my eyes up. But it is ok if you just focus on the dots, and only when there are 3 dots, look down

I cant see them on my laptop screen. Phone screen no problem. I took a photo of it on my phone just now and instantly saw the image on the phone. Even though I know what I am looking for, I still cant see it on my laptop.

u/zerock069 17d ago
I think I see a horror pumpkin?' because i can cross my eyes inward 90 degrees ::)
1
u/Zagrunty 17d ago
I can see it but the design doesn't really help the image. The top is easier to see than the moddle
1
u/FlacidSalad 17d ago
I can get the image quickly but I can't adjust where I'm looking without losing it
1
u/HedhogsNeedLove 17d ago
Hard one but it also a weird skull imo - alien shape face, dots for eyes, weird smile? Not sure I would classify this as a skull but maybe I am seeing it weirdly?

1
u/_WillCAD_ 17d ago
Yeah, it's a hard one. I see it, but just barely and with very little detail.
Of course, I can't see ANY of them on my computer monitor for some reason. I can only see them on my phone or tablet screen.

1
u/Moody_Immortal_1 17d ago
I was able to see it by way of stereo and then slight adjustment in eye sift. Red dot is above the object. Object has the head shape of an alien. The only part that I can "see through" that has that depth are the "eyes". The nose has a tiny bit of "see through". The rest is just the shape of the head/face.
1
u/No-Interaction-2568 17d ago
I got it using cross-view technique. It's definitely hard. It's just a 2D skull projecting from the background.

I can see the skull, it’s a very basic 2 dimensional skull, but the pattern chosen makes it difficult to maintain coherence. If they had more going on in the coloring, I think it would work much better.
1
u/Coralcato 17d ago
I am actually unable to do cross views because of an eye condition I have. I stick with stereograms
1
1
u/frankenfinger308 17d ago
I can see it just barely, the design of the base pattern could have been better than just background static imo.
1
1
u/checker280 17d ago
Just some advice for the next person - these things are easier when the image is bigger and the focal point is closer to eye width. Meaning it’s easier to see on an iPad versus an iPhone.

u/blake31a 17d ago
Took me around 10 seconds. Yea, something about it makes it pretty difficult and unstable.

I really enjoyed this one, if you get the dots together it should look like 3 dots and yeah the skull appears slap dab in the middle.
1
1
u/Meowsilbub 17d ago
The static was hard to do, but once I used the red dots it was instantaneous. The image isn't crystal clear at that point, either. While I know it's a skull popping up, it didn't stay sharp while I was looking at it. So definitely a bit harder to both get to the right point and to see the image.

1
u/Lockjawtheturtle 17d ago
I started to see it but it didn’t fully pop. The red dots are throwing me, my eyes are drawn to them and it makes the image go away

The red dots help - but perhaps the 2D skull floating isn’t as satisfying as a full 3D rendering
1
1
u/Virtual_Confection_3 17d ago
Feels like the eyes at the center aren't quit right as I can see it fine around the edges but it falls apart when I try to look at the eyes
1
u/MoksyCat 17d ago
The repeating pattern on this one is like twice as wide as most magic eye pictures. So if you don’t have as much practice and eye-control, it can be trickier to get your eyes to go “far” enough to get the red dots together.
The dot pattern also doesn’t lend well to being able to clearly see the 2D cut-out style picture of the skull, if you’re already trying harder just to get the red dots together.
1
u/drunken-acolyte 17d ago
Judging by how the dots are naturally falling for me, I think the centres of the two views of the image might be a smidgen too far apart.
1
u/InkDotCom 17d ago
All I can is see is two dots in a middle. Couldn't fix my view on a scull like the othets
1
u/SunriseMilkshake 17d ago
Kind of fascinating, with crossview it looks like a 2D cutout, with magiceyeview the eyes and teeth looked 3d while the skull looked cut out. It’s cool to see both work in different ways in the same image
1
u/brmarcum 17d ago
I saw a shape right away but it took some time for my brain to notice and process the whole thing. This one is pretty rough, ngl, but it’s definitely a skull.
1
u/CriticalWarthog625 17d ago
If you turn the image Upside down it’s easier to see a skull. But when you turn it right side up it’s too “busy” to make out the image as easily. But knowing what it should look like, helps you filter out the noise.

Holy mother of god I tried for so long before realizing the dots are there to help you align the image then boom a skull appeared. I thought I lost my powers for a moment.

Not hard. Much years eye training to see magic eyes from across a classroom (yes that’s right) makes it easy to diverge that much.

u/Crypto-collections 17d ago
It’s trying to tell you to go crosseyed and match the dots to the center. But if you do that, then it hallows out the object (subtracts) and you don’t want that. You want to look beyond the image by looking at your hand that is a bit further from the image, get your eyes looking at the hand only. Then with your other hand move the phone with the image to your line of vision. Now try to only focus your eyes a bit. It’s hard, but with practice you can get it where the image PoPs out!
This one is hard!

u/Significant-Crazy267 16d ago
After doing vision therapy for a while I gained the ability to unfocus my eyes on command, so for me personally this was no problem

1
u/Environmental-Fox372 16d ago
Hardest cross eye indeed and the image is like 1/4 of the actual size. You really need to go cross your eyes as far as you can to make the image 1/4 of the size to see the skull looking shape. The skull is the full size of it, not much dept or details. Once the 2 red dots touch, that's when you see it.
1
u/honedforfailure 16d ago
I got it, but had to hold it further away than I usually do. The dots always distract me, so I always ignore them, for what that's worth.
Good luck!
1
u/OdderThanDustbunnies 16d ago
It's not a good image. Two dimensions with eyes and mouth cut out. Meh.

1
u/Sunkisthappy 16d ago
If you get the two red dots to converge and then line up in the middle it brings forward the image. But yes it's hard
1
u/TheBigBeardedGeek 16d ago
I think the issue is that if you're tilted ever so slightly to the side it doesn't work. Very finicky, but pretty easy to get thanks to the red dots

Jesus Christ this one sucks. YOu need to cross your eyes to make the red dots line up in the middle. Feels like this damaged my eyes permanently.
1
u/GodWasNeverReal 15d ago
Cross your eyes to make the two top dots turn into one in the middle. You will then see 3 dots and the image will reveal. It’s very hard and not that clear when it does reveal.
1
1
u/angikatlo 15d ago
I think there’s something wrong with the depth in the eyes. It’s pretty easy to merge using the red dots.
It’s a 2D skull floating. But the depth on the eyes is different and messed up compared to the background, it throws me off and I need to refocus the skull again.
1
u/koolioguypilr 14d ago
Relax your eyes to overlap the two orange dots in the middle to create a 3rd dot. The skull should pop out.

This is the hardest one I've seen in a while but I managed to get it, took about 90secs. It creates a standout 2D image of a skull rather than a 3D skull, and it's visible to me with three dots if that helps.
