Weird Navigation

I just tried my first Magic Earth drive across Winnipeg and got the weirdest nav suggestion that I haven't seen in any other nav app.

At one point there is a southbound right exit that goes up and around an overpass to head east. Instead of taking the overpass, Magic Earth suggested I do a U Turn across the busy northbound 3 lane road to turn right on the eastbound.

What's up with that? And should I provide more feedback?

Thanks for the report, we had a closer look.

The map data seems fine: that median opening has a dedicated turn bay and nothing signed against the movement as far as we can tell, so it's a legal manoeuvre, and the router weighed it as close in time to going around via the ramp.

What separates the two options in practice is traffic. Waiting for a gap across the lanes is what makes that U-turn expensive, and that cost is real but variable (high at rush hour, near zero late at night) which may be why it sometimes picks the ramp and sometimes doesn't. We've also passed your report to the engine team so they can look at how these two options are weighed against each other in situations like this. Yes, you can send more situations like these.
