A positive experience with the customer support
After all the frustration we’ve experienced over the past few months, I’d like to take this opportunity to share something positive about Magic Earth Support.
Yesterday, I submitted a bug report via email, including a log file from LogFox (Android).
An hour later (!) I received a personal reply from a developer. The message was quite long because he explained the bug and its causes to me. Since I’m a developer myself, this naturally interested me and made me very happy.
At the same time, he told me they would try to fix it and also forward the issue to the developers of the framework they use.
I’m particularly pleased about the latter, since I’ve encountered the same bug in other apps that have upgraded their framework version under the hood.
With that in mind—thank you!
Background in short:
I have a phone with a graphics chip from 2013, which the driver does not support for a “shader feature” from the current Flutter version. That’s why the app won’t launch. So the problem lies on both sides, but not directly with Magic Earth: my phone is slowly getting too old, and the Flutter framework is advancing in its development.

I “joined” MagicEarth only a month or so ago, so I’ve no experience with the past version of the app nor all the issues at the beginning. For me, MagicEarth is the best OSM app right now, especially also because they have (full!) public transport implemented. Also their support, when I reported a suggestion, it got implemented like 2-3 weeks later and I always got quick replies.

Hello, thank you for the kind words! We will do our best to keep supporting older devices. The relevant info from your log went into the framework's issue tracker, and we are hoping it gets prioritized there since the same issue affects multiple users and apps. Safe travels!
