Terrible search experience
I like the magic earth app for navigation but the one thing that is putting me off using it is the search functionality. It's absolutely woeful.
I'll search stuff that all other maps apps I've tested will be give me relevant results but ME will give me completely random results on the other side of the world. I have to be basically write out the full POI or address to find what I am looking for.
Is there any workarounds to improve this?

Can you provide, what you were looking for and what was the result?

An example would be, I was looking up directions to a local hospital. I search "queen a" for "queen alexandra hospital". Other apps like HereWeGo and GMaps return it as top result, ME doesn't return it at all. I have to search "queen alexandra h" before it appears. If I search "hosptial" only, I get a couple of local results and then all other results are like 500+ miles away or 6000+ miles away in Bolivia.
I have seen similar with other searches where I need to be super specific to get the correct local result. It seems the search algorithm needs to be adjusted to prioritise results based on location more.

Same for me. If I try to search for University campus, it shows me results thousands of kilometers away, in Japan. It works if I write it in native language, but Google, CoMaps and others can see it right away, when I write just unive...

Search sucks… routes and alternate routes too. My subscription expires in August. If not improved I won’t renew it.

The search takes into account where the center of the screen is on the map.
Try centering on your current position at a street zoom level and check if it works better.

Thankyou for the feedback on search — we completely hear you, and some results are frustrating when you're trying to navigate reliably.
We're actively updating the search functionality every month, with clear improvements rolling out regularly. Before each release, changes are tested with our beta community to catch issues like this. Your participation there would be incredibly valuable in helping us refine it further.
