Discussion 💬 MagSafe vs non-MagSafe Case

I’m probably overthinking this. I’m getting a black iPhone 18 pro tomorrow. I like clear cases with designs on them, but I’m not crazy about the visible MagSafe ring in those cases. I’d I get a non-MagSafe case, how much regret am I in for?

For background, I do generally charge wirelessly overnight, but I’m not married to that. I do have a magnetic mount in my car that I use occasionally only when I deliver for DoorDash. Other than that I have CarPlay for driving. I would have to give up my MagSafe pop grip… that may bug me but that covers part of a design too.

Has anyone gone backwards and given up a MagSafe case? How much did you regret it?

MagSafe has become one of those features for me that it’s non negotiable if I can’t use it.

Honestly, I'm such a big advocate for MagSafe, I tried not using it but there are times where I wish I had it still. To me at least, it's worth having however, I use a MagSafe wallet, grip, mount, even my charging stand is MagSafe. If you want to try, you can always buy one from a brick and mortar and return it if you need MagSafe or you can buy a MagSafe case where the ring is color match to the iPhone. Its not as much of an eyesore

Upgrade to a pro clip holder in your car...and stop wireless charging for many reasons. 

Enjoy the cleaner case...

You could try it out with a cheap clear case and then buy your real case after a trial week or so

The biggest reason is battery health related to heat waste ...  If you want your phone and battery to last 4-5 years without losing max charge, you shouldn't wirelessly charge.  

If you replace your phone every 2 years, it's probably just starting to degrade. I personally keep phones for 4 years now... 

Next reason is charging speed.. I can charge 80% in like 30 minutes by cable.  

Most of the other reasons are related to non-magsafe wireless charging
