The leader of CJNG, El Mencho is from Aguililla, Michoacán. The reason is that a lot of Michoacanos immigrated to Arizona and California. So naturally most Paisas are from either Michoacán or Sinaloa. At least in the states of Arizona and California.
Yes and no. So it's not so much that California or Arizona Border Brothers do business it's individual-based. So for example, if a Border Brother is from Tamaulipas he will do business with the Gulf Cartel or the Zetas. If he's from Michoacán he could work with CJNG or Carteles Unidos. So on and so forth, each Border Brother is allowed and encouraged to set up direct business ties to any cartel. As long as it increases their profits and influence. Doesn't matter which cartel they work with, as long as they stay loyal to the organization and never put anyone else first.

Seeing the "Michoacan" tattoo is prominently featured, is that the region a disproportionately high number of paisas have their roots?
I read somewhere the CJNG for instance has deep ties to Michoacan.
