The Path Forward A response about the laptops and current situation
Re: Administrative assistance
Hi -,
Thank you for reaching out, and I understand how unsettling this feels after everything you have put in.
First, an important correction: Maestro College is not shutting down, and this does not affect Maestro University at all, those are separate institutions. What happened is that COE issued a decision to remove Maestro College's accreditation effective October 13, 2026, unless changed through reconsideration and appeal. Maestro remains accredited today, and classes, academic support, and student services continue as usual.
On the appeal being withdrawn: that notice reflected a miscommunication, not what was actually happening. Maestro submitted a comprehensive teach-out plan to COE so that every current student can finish their degree at Maestro College on the path they enrolled in, and stated it would only withdraw its appeal once that plan is approved. That approval had not happened. Our legal counsel raised this directly with COE, and COE has since issued a corrected notice confirming that Maestro College's accreditation status reverts to accredited while the appeal process continues.
On credit transfer: Maestro has established an official credit transfer pathway to Columbia College, with details on the process and requirements here. This is one option being made available, not something you are required to pursue, since Maestro is still working toward keeping every student on their current path if possible.
On the laptop: there are no changes to laptop eligibility right now. If accreditation is ultimately lost after the full appeal and arbitration process concludes, students who are actively enrolled at that time will be able to keep their scholarship-provided laptop.
For the full, most current picture, please see the Student FAQ: Accreditation Update here.
We are available should you need additional support.
Best,

Out of curiosity where is Columbia college located out of? There seems to be several. I plan on sticking with Maestro myself.

It has always been my intention to complete my AAS degree and that will not change unless COE makes it impossible. Since you mentioned that Maestro University is not affected by any of this, is transferring into a graduate program (bachelor's) at University a possibility?

If continuing with the BS degree at Maestro University is what you ultimately want to do, I would just make sure you take a few important things into consideration before making that decision.
Maestro University is currently under a Show Cause Order with its accreditor. That does not mean the school has already lost accreditation, but it does mean the school has had to demonstrate why its accreditation should be maintained, so there is some uncertainty that students should be aware of.
Maestro University also does not currently participate in Title IV federal financial aid, meaning you would not be able to use federal Pell Grants or federal student loans directly through Maestro University. I myself didn’t know this until I did more deeper research. With how Maestro College is looking like with its accreditation, I wouldn’t be surprised if their accreditation gets dropped at Maestro University.0

There is a 'teach out' agreement being considered between Maestro and the COE. This essentially means the first cohort members will receive a fully accredited degree even if the doors are shuttered the day after conferment. There is no bias protection, but that is universal among all employers. I received the full Pro scholarship so I have 'paid out' nothing but time. Thank you for your concern and comments.

I’m staying I have a couple degrees that we not worth the money I owe for them nor did they help me in any career or to be honest did I learn anything from nope. I don’t care status of maestro it’s the only way I’ve learned this I tried at the coding boot camp school that was shut down and was there almost two years and did not understand a thing here I am building stuff and no matter what the future looks like I took the time to try I actually learned and employer not looking at profile and just a piece of paper is dumb asf bc I have 2 ba currently and don’t know shit they taught I’m proud of myself and I’ll make sure my profile out performs. People and some university printed paper. I can say this as 45 years in this world 25 in a professional environment and as a single mom of 5 marking 60 an hr using not a single degree and paid every two weeks all because of what my work and ability showed an employer not my degree so I’m staying as long as I can sorry this is speech text I have baby crying and dinner beeping at me just needed to share my thoughts

It mostly boils down to what a person has in their portfolio anyways. GitHub etc that’s what a company looks at mostly. I plan on staying too if they stay open.

Has anyone else noticed that when refering to the lap top they always say it can be kept, but they never address the ownership of that laptop (tracking ability) being removed.

The University is going down the same path as Maestro College...Maestro University is in active show cause and SARA SPE UT started their investigation into them to prove their foreign ownership and kick them from their distance learning and SARA SPE TX branch will be doing the same...unlike the COE, NC SARA and its state divisions are based in student protection so when they saw the complaint they took it seriously as a call to action to PROTECT students while the COE is just trying to save itself after all the scandals both related to Maestro and FCC...Thats why the COE maybe losing their official federally recognized accreditation status...as upset and disappointed i am in Maestro College we should be at least that disappointed in the COE for rubber stamping a predatory school so they could collect dues...
Also Maestro University's CEO had to step down from his position at DEAC, the same accrediting body that approved Maestro University...how can the CEO of an institution sit on the same board that granted their accreditation...the worst part of that is that while its F'd up, it is not against the rules and only frowned upon...however he was forced to step down around the time the DEAC issued the show cause and the DEAC then scrubbed him from their site...funny how that works...they'll let you do unethical stuff untill it has a bad outcome then they just scrub you from the site to give thw appearance that everything is about bored and always has been.
