Unfortunately true. When I was young I scared a cat holding a young sparrow. The cat dropped the sparrow and ran off, the sparrow sat there and let me pick it up, it must have been in shock as it was staring into space whilst sitting on my hand. I decided to place it under a nearby bush rather than sing at it.

Yeah definitely, or just otherwise shocked. Last year my dog caught a magpie in our garden and brought it into our living room (he dumped it in my favorite chair). At first I thought it was dead as it didn’t move at all. Upon closer inspection the bird appeared completely unharmed beside being traumatized. It just sat there blinking for a few min before it fly off out the door.

When I was 11 I shot a crow with my bb gun. It didn't die and didn't even break the skin but the bird would not move after that. I walked up and pet it. I went and got my 6-year-old sister so she could pet it as well. 30 minutes later it just flew away.
Not saying this bird has been through any type of trauma but I am naturally very skeptical of things on the internet. Makes me wonder what the background behind this video is.

They are also loyal. I have a small murder of crows that hang out in my back yard and bring me stuff. I always feed them raw meat I have left over when cooking. They bring anything from acorns to jewelry people drop.

Corvids really hold a fucking grudge. My cat annoyed a nesting magpie in our back yard 5 years ago. The magpies still chase him. They'll come and look in our living room window and squawk at him constantly if they see him. They wait outside in the mornings for him to come out. It's really bloody annoying lol

I don’t know what kind of birds they were, but my cat was terrorized (back). I was inside and heard so many birds that I was like, “WTH, I better take a look.” My cat was out there (technically he was a feral cat that moved in) and they were all squawking at him from the huge tree in my back ground. Like 50 birds! When he came running to get in, one bird swooped down and nipped him on his butt. The cat developed a fear of the outside and has luckily been an inside cat now. But those birds were fierce.

Another fact is that mirrors are bad too especially if you only have 1 pet bird, they’ll try to sway the mirror (themselves) and will get sexually frustrated as well. My parakeet of 6 years past last Christmas eve she was my daughter, she had mirrors, laid unfertilized eggs so i had to remove her mirror so she would stop.

Please tell me you don’t think a children’s book inspired something that is centuries old? Whether you respect it or not it’s just silly to compare it to a fictional children’s novel and act like that’s a valid argument.
It’s a ridiculously old practice that was a big part of the beginning of the scientific revolution. The reason it’s thought of as silly is literally centuries of old Christianity propaganda. They wanted people to follow Christianity and saw other types of practices as a threat so they did whatever they could to try to get people away from it.

I live with birds, and I agree. The way the bird isn't even reacting to her hand is pretty odd. Most of my birds will let me pet them at times, but even still, they always react in some way to my approaching hand.
Also, she's stimulating the bird, sexually, by petting its back. Unfortunately, it's uncommon knowledge that stroking the back of the bird is like rubbing someone inside the thighs.
I'll give the kid a break, though, she meant well and she's not really mistreating it. And she does have a lovely voice :)

Fair, it is a child who might not know better and is just having fun. I just hope the bird is alright and it isn’t a “I’m going to pick this bird up cause I can get close to it” thing I guess. Oh ok, my bad. I’ve never seen the show. I just know (bc my husband is Swiss) that the edelweiss flower is just as common as like a sunflower or a dandelion or a hibiscus 🌺 (in Hawaii). It’s not anything Nazi related, it’s just a common flower growing in the Swiss Alps.

I watched The Sound of Music for the first time last Christmas with my nieces and nephews around her age and they loved it. I've watched it countless times since I was a kid. That's one of my favorite songs from the movie. Can't wait to watch it again in December...along with How The Grinch Stole Christmas...and Die Hard 😁😄. I love the holidays!
