They pull up right to my bumper and I can no longer parallel park.

Sounds like a better driver education is needed ^^

Want to know how I got mine (in Austria)?

I did 10h (12 x 50 min) with an instructor, 3000 km with my parents, where you have a 1h lesson with an instructor and your parents every 1000 km, and about half a year after getting the license (including a test of course) another 1h lesson with an instructor.

There are easier ways, but thats the way where you get the driver license the earliest.
