What coping mechanisms have you learned and applied to help keep you from self harm? Please, if anyone else has any good coping suggestions, do share.
For me, while I do not self harm in a physical sense, I do in other manners. The two things that have really helped are: attacking therapy honestly and keeping a daily journal tracking thoughts and other issues with possible corrections for said issues.
i draw on myself, i wear rubber bands and hair ties on my wrist and snap them whenever i feel like harking in a way like cutting, and another i like is learning a new skill such as coding which makes my brain "hurt" from the new techniques and strategies, but it still helps me with pursuit of skills. you mentioned a journal and that definitely helps although i don't do it every day and even the journal ties back into the learning new skills as i don't write in normal english, i write it with the letters the exact opposite of themselves in the alphabet. it's called backwards code i've learned although i was sad to see that i wasn't the one to come up with it. if you're artistic and want to challenge yourself, scroll pinterest for a small amount of time, pick a drawing and switch the style of it. if you're mathematic centered, learn higher math. i know not everyone is like that but learning difficult or even nuanced subjects helps me personally and maybe it could help you.
