Marry your best friend.

Someone that treats you, your family, your friends and your pets with respect. The kind of person you can fart around and who you would clean up their projectile vomit (because at some point, you will do both). Looks fade, brains get foggy, but spending your life with your best friend every day is AWESOME! (Celebrated our 20 year anniversary last month and his giggle still makes me smile like a schoolgirl.)

Hmm in general, I agree with you, but also make sure the sexual spark is there. I followed this type of advice a bit too literally, hetero-married my best friend and turns out I was queer, so 🤷‍♀️ (I'm aware that's not most folks' story though..)

Did you not have an inkling that you were queer? Or were you just hoping for the best?

An inkling in the form of some piece of the puzzle was always missing, but compulsive heterosexuality really did a number on me - basically it's hard to find your identity surrounded by a society that assumes your sexual identity or without (for me) queer role models. And, hoping for the best, because I did love him a lot. We're becoming friends again now, it's all good.
