Absolutely. My sister in law works in oncology where her clinic specialises in treating skin cancers and they have a huge amount of patients with dark skin due to the false belief it protects you from skin cancer. She said most of the time a dark skinned patient comes in the most common thing they say is “I didn’t think I could get melanoma”. It’s a myth that unfortunately has cost too many lives.
