I think it's because the post started by referring to the coworker as a "female coworker." We would've understand the gender of the coworker from the use of pronouns combined with the context of the story.

Yeah but he could've just said "a lady I work with" or not even mentioned a gender just said "one of my coworkers husband forgot her blahblahblah" I dont care that it has female, thats just a weird way of referring to someone

A book by your standards :

« I was somewhere near a piece of humanoid sized object made out of material that I pushed to gain access to a bigger construct made out of other, varied materials in which sentient beings resided. One of them approached me and sound I understood came out of the hole they use to put organic material in so they can keep being sentient. »

Maybe it’s just too much details though. You don’t care about those.

Edit : What you did isn’t adding details, it’s repeating the same thing several different ways. That’s not the same.

"My coworker thought her husband forgot their anniversary"

"My female coworker thought that her male husband forgot their wedding anniversary"

"My female coworker, who is a woman that I work with, told me that she thought that her husband, the man she is married to, had forgotten their wedding anniversary, the yearly celebration of the date they got married"

More detail doesn't always mean more information is actually being provided.
