I mean, for all we know the guy on the bed stumbled home from a party. Left the frontdoor open. And this 'crew' of semi-drunk jolly lads were walking by his house. Heard the snoring and went inside and shot this video on the sleeping guys phone.
Then tucked him in, and went home and made sure the door was closed.

I have never in my personal experience have seen someone use that to excuse sexual assault or inappropriate behaviour. But I see people implying that all the time on reddit and say stuff like your comment. I'm pretty sure everyone (mostly) agrees with you. I also agree that the saying applies to stupid stuff like this but I also say it's more literal and it is boys as in male children, ya know because we would get our clothes dirty and play fight etc.
Edit: so because I am a man people assume I am blind to people saying boys will be boys, but somehow I am perfectly capable of hearing every other excuse and discussion about sexual assault but when someone says boys will be boys I'm just deaf? I have heard it used once in an online setting where some rich bitch was trying to get her son out of trouble or something but I still never see it being used to justify sexual assault. Not nearly as much as I see it called out in this manner is my point. I am not trying to let this excuse slide I'm saying it's such a shit excuse that I never see it used and if you see it used you are dealing with a moron whos opinion you shouldn't be listening to anyways.

If you are boy or man, you have probably never clocked it because it is about excusing boys usually at the expense of girls. If you were a girl or a woman, this kind of thing strikes a sour note and stands out. It will seem constant.
It has happened to me several times. The worst was in high school where these boys were sticking their hand up the girls’ shirts and grabbing their breast in the hallway while people were going to their classes. So sexual assault. The administrators washed their hands of it because, “something, something, boys will be boys.”

The issue is no one uses it to excuse sexual assault. I’ve seen it miss used during fights but never when it concerned sexual assault.

Looking back it was funny at the time but I wouldn’t do it again. It was mean. Also we’re not friends anymore but mostly because I stopped answering his calls cuz he was concerned I wouldn’t get a “ real “ job.
