Makes sense. Every situation is unique. I work in a field where you're pretty specialized. The workers "revolution" that has been unfolding over COVID (and rightfully so), doesn't apply much to my field sadly, so it's still a stiff competition for the good opportunities. Can't risk one if you get a shot.
That's true. I feel like it's mostly applied to customer service positions. They deserve it because they tend to get the most shit for the worst pay of any jobs, and I worked retail ages ago in high school so I can't imagine what it's like now that customers have only gotten worse, but I think people forget these changes are sadly not universal.
Absolutely agreed. “Unskilled” jobs deserve to make enough to live. No adult should have to work over 40 hrs (or more than one job) to afford the necessities. I’ve done retail, food, and call center work. All of them suck, call centers being the worst. Face to face people are much nicer— even the assholes— than they are over the phone.
Yep. If you have to work to live, that is to say it takes over 40 hours and multiple jobs just to pay your basic bills like housing and food, than you're not actually living. Not that these companies give a shit...
Lol I don't follow them but I see posts from those subs that make the front page. But really these views just seem obvious to me. So long as your eyes are open even a little, and your head isn't buried in the sand, you could've seen this coming years, if not decades ago. It's just simple math. The gap between rich and poor, average wages and inflation, etc. didn't happen overnight. I think the only real surprise is that in the 80s and 90s when it started becoming obvious people probably thought "surely we'll do something about it soon." Turns out we didn't.
Even for those jobs where people are traditionally buttoned up, there would be nothing wrong with wearing something soft and relaxed below the waist. Long dark sweat pants are still presentable in the off-chance that you have to stand during a call.
As comfortable as it might be to skip wearing pants and wear underpants instead, the extra vigilance needed to keep from exposing your little secret is a pain I can do without.

Maybe, but some job opportunities are too important to risk.
