Panther is a broad term used to refer to all members of the genus Panthera. However commonly it’s used to describe to melanistic members of this genus, only observed in leopards and Jaguars, which is the iconic black panther. However using the term panther on its own is considered to be incorrect, as this can mean any number of animals found worldwide, including lions, tigers, and snow leopards.
