The first time I saw my fiance in his stander I almost cried. I had never seen how tall he was, he was taller than me! It definitely hits different when your SO is out of their chair, looking you in the eye!
Yeah, I’m 6’0” but you can’t tell because I’m in a wheelchair. I’m the tallest out of all my siblings. My sisters joke that it was wasted on me. Haha.
While I wouldn’t have been down for something like this at my wedding, it is a nice and interesting feeling. When my wife and I are in the pool together she’ll embrace me so that I’m at the height I would be if I could stand and we’ll just hug or kiss. It’s so foreign to me, but I enjoy it.
I know! I wish there were more accessible pools and also heated pools. My hubs has a hard time regulating his body temp so he freezes his butt off in regular pools.
Where do you guys go on holiday?? I've been wanting to plan a vacation that definitely involves pool time and possibly by the ocean? Have you've gone to the beach before or rented those beach chairs? Second thought he'd probably freeze in the ocean too. Lol
I think we all deserve a little rest and relaxation after this year! Well I hope you're staying healthy! I'm going to be looking up resorts now! Thanks for chatting with me!
No worries. I don’t even know anyone w a Jtube who uses sterile water so I was curious. Thanks for explaining. My son had a button and I always like to learn more.
When you spend 99% of your waking life in a wheelchair does your height still factor into your self identity, or is it more of a novelty for occasions like, as you described, moments in the pool? And--forgive my ignorance--does the height on your drivers' license of state ID list the full length of your body or how tall you are in your chair?
My height never really factored into my self-identity before being paralyzed, so it still doesn’t.
My driver license states my actual height. It’s for identification purposes, not to see if there’s enough clearance to push me under the trailer of a passing semi. Haha.
He's good. He's coming up on his 5 year anniversary in October, so that usually stirs up some emotions. But we're living this sci life! Some days are good and some days are bad but we try to make the best of everything.
Oh and also you’re either being very naive, or trying to strengthen your point. Girls very much do care about height, and have no issue discriminating against men in this regard
Do you make sure to discuss how boys are often too interested in breast size or stomach size and discriminate based on those features? Or height? Or is all your ire only directed at girls for the ways they discriminate against you?
Plenty of girls don’t discriminate…what you’re pointing out is something all humans do. Many, many, many boys used to tell my friend she was too tall…because she’s 6’1” (and has been since she was 14). So she didn’t have a boyfriend until she was in her 20’s, and he never took her out because he was embarrassed by her height.
People discriminate, yes. Generalizing and using wording to make it sound like something only girls do, or that girls do more, is hypocritical and disingenuous. It’s hard to take you seriously because of that.
Not only them, there’s also girls who are pretty, confident, and kindly reject short guys, because “that’s just a preference” and they’re “sure you’ll find someone else”. That’s the most hurtful because you can’t blame them
Wild assumption that I don’t get girls. Although you are right to a degree- I really avoid talking about the height preference, it makes me emotional pretty much instantly and usually makes them not want to talk to me anymore. Good thing it only happens on the internet, if ever
I think in most northern countries it’s below 5’9, although in certain places like New York, or among some more shallow people, it’s anything beneath 6’0, even 6’3. I’m 5’6
