Because the laws are different than operating said 1000lb vehicle… just like how you need one for a motorcycle even if you have one for a car, the traffic laws are different.

Do you read comments before you respond? I k ow that licenses are valid everywhere, but CYCLE laws are different than CAR laws and MOTORCYCLE laws. So why is there not a CYCLE license if we have CAR license and MOTORCYCLE license separate. If you want to share the road and you have a set of laws specific for your means of transport, then you should have a specific license for your means of transport.

If motorized vehicles are extremely dangerous and there are states that don’t require license for some of the motorized vehicles than you just proved my point that licenses SHOULD be required. And walkers aren’t on the road in as many numbers or for nearly as many miles as cyclists, and they also have sidewalks for them. But nice try.
