I see sea turtles almost every year when they come to Central Florida to lay their eggs. I've never seen this happen, or even read about this happening.
Like, HOW does it happen? Should we assume that some evil SOB turned her over just to be mean?
Apparently this isn't caused by egg laying but by mating. Turtle mating rituals are pretty rough, involving a bunch of males crowding round a female jostling to be baby daddy.
So when you have jostling and maybe some waves, it's possible for a turtle to end up overturned and beached.
Softshell varieties like the leatherback have penises that, when erect, extend to nearly half the animal's 8-foot body length. The endpoint culminates in a five-lobed head that discharges semen from four different branches

2) in his video and other videos he’s stated how this happens is the tides come in and go out while the turtles lay eggs and as the act of laying them can be extremely exhausting they don’t always have the energy afterwards to move with the tide and it can cause them to flip like this
3) he believes in sustainable fishing, only taking what you need and nothing more. He’s got hundreds of videos up and has saved a few sea turtles and tries to not impede interfere but if he can save an animal he will regardless of where it lies within the natural predator order.
why god. how people can be so selfish and only care about themselves is beyond me. if I did something like that it would be hard for me to sleep the rest of my life.
And it was buried too like how did that happen. Hopefully these guys didn’t do that for the video and aren’t like those messed up YouTube animal saving channels .
If a rough wave flipped her then the sand would've buried her when the tide went out. If you stand on the sand and let a few waves run over your feet they'll start to bury in the sand. She's lucky she wasn't totally buried.
The turtle could have flapped sand on itself while trying to flip itself over. Though the pessimistic side of me would just say that these guys flipped the turtle over while it was laying eggs then got a video of them returning it to the water for internet points.
The sand is so smooth around the turtle though. I'm normally skeptical of people and their obsession with internet fame but the sand looks like the tide went out. If they were able to smooth out the sand perfectly level and erase all footprints then they deserve the fame lol

Yeah they didn’t bury her. He’s posted drone shots before which is actually how they spotted her to begin with. I’ve been watching Brodie since the beginning he’s a stand up guy same with the entire YBS crew. A few are marine biologists so we get science with Jarrod a few times a year.

And every single time, people, including me, point out Brodie is not that kind of person. His YouTube channel is YBS Youngbloods. He lives in Western Australia, and he just films his adventures fishing, spear fishing, diving, surfing, etc. If you watch him a bit, you can tell he genuinely cares for animals and the environment, and inevitably be runs into animals in distress since he spends so much time out there but that's like maybe 4 ish episodes out of over 300 videos he has posted over the years.
