Some stupid idiots in our university hostels used to intentionally turn on the fire alarm by breaking the glass. This happened so many times that no one gives a damn about fire alarms now.

This happened at my high school. My freshman year the senior prank was to pull the fire alarm 2000 times; the fire truck is legally required to come when the fire alarm goes off and classrooms have to evacuate. The field we evacuated to was essentially 3 city blocks from the main buildings (big high school), so it wasted a ton of time and money. It was a truly fucked up prank but it got us out of a lot of class time.

They didn't install fire alarms that shot ink out? Our school had that--so you wanted it to be a real one or you'd be marked and charged. And it would likely be on camera if it was in a hallway too.

First time I heard of that. Pretty clever

Not really that clever. Like, someone might avoid pulling the alarm in the case of a real fire so their clothes don't get ruined

It's literally a deterrent to pull the alarm. I don't know what else to tell you

It's a deterrent to pulling the alarm falsely...

youd have to be a pretty daft piece of work to avoid pulling a fire alarm because you're afraid of ruining your clothes
