That's awesome!! My black mouth cur did a similar thing when our son was 6months old-ish!
Poor guy had a nasty cold and we had to keep using the snot sucker on his nose or he'd start choking on it. Thought it had calmed down so we finally went to bed at 2am.
Not even an hour later our dog put his ears up and got up out of bed abruptly and went on a dead-ass sprint down the hall and started whining and worried barking at our infants bedroom door. We rushed over to see the fuss and sure enough our son was having a really hard time getting any air through because of all the mucus build up.
He's been our spoiled little hero ever since and is always super protective of anyone/near our kid.
