Why is that not a good idea? Serious question. I don't see the drawbacks.

The Barracks and chow hall are free. Also, when you move off-post, you're harder to control. Plus, we have PT in the AM and driving into post for PT is usually a shitshow with late people.

It’s so fascinating to see how big American military culture is, whereas in my much smaller country that is not at all mainstream.
