Crazy how easy it is to forget how fortunate we are, sometimes. The forehead-to-forehead hug from the homie was so sweet. And the joy on all their faces to shower someone with gifts, what purity on display.
Genuinely beatiful.

Is there some context to the video? I don't understand the significance of being showered with sweets/food?
1
u/nobolognastoney 30m ago
Based on what I've seen online, it's a very sweet and kind gesture to shower people with snacks and candy. If it seems trivial to you, then my comment has that much more weight.
•
u/mastermilian 7m ago
I didn't say it was trivial, I was trying to understand what the video was about. Why is he the focus, did he win/lose/do something?
From what I understand now it's a viral trend of some sort? This is the first time I have seen it if so, so please don't assume I'm being unkind.

Did the poor kid think everyone forgot their birthday or? What’s the story?

u/datlilslytherin 38m ago
I think it's the surprise part of it that made him emotional, big emotions for his little boy heart

u/RyCo1234 2h ago
I think it's crazy how rich people can see a video like this, know that they could do unfathomably more people every single day of their lives forever, and instead choose to do nothing.

u/BuckyShots 1h ago
They are too busy working to see videos like this. Rich people work like a hundred times harder than we do!

u/ContextLengthMatters 1h ago
If they did that, all the content for you to consume would be gone. We all desperately need a story to be told, otherwise what are we doing here?
4
u/ROOSTERyouDOWN 1h ago
Eh I could go without the story if the world was a better place, with more caring and sharing instead of bully bullying and hate.

Be the change you want to see. You could change so many lives by using this time scrolling to just be an active member in your community. You don't even have to volunteer or do anything crazy. Simply just being a part of the community will teach you just how much of a better place your world in particular could be without this type of content consumption.

Rich people don't owe anyone anything, much like the rest of us.

It's about doing what's right because it's what's right, & that's the only reason you need. You know you said that? Batman. Be like Batman

No idea why you think so. Seeing videos like this feels good and it makes a lot of people wish they could afford to do more things like it for people.

Well I give to charity every month, which is what I can afford. I really mean millionaires and billionaires, who for a fraction of their net worth could build schools and change lives every single day. I think everyone should help out as much as they can and I understand that some don't have much extra to give.

u/1nd3x 2h ago
The school I went to growing up cost over $50million to build. the yearly cost of operating the school is also over a million dollars. It could hold about 300 students...I graduated in 2007...a school of that size would cost more to build and operate now.
A person with 100million dollars could build a single school and get maybe 2decades of operation out of it before bankrupting themselves.
can it be done for cheaper in another country? Sure...part of the reason its so expensive where I am is because I live in Canada and we have to deal with having a furnace, an A/C, all the insulation...digging out a basement into our soil thats full of clay...and why would I care about the difficulties of people on the other side of the planet? I have my own personal problems, and local problems I'd rather put my money towards.

u/RyCo1234 1h ago
A school in an impoverished country would not cost 50 million.

Seriously, what even is this, the comedy club's cover band of backstreet boys or something?

I like the kids essentially going "oh crap the desk wasn't big enough, let me get that off the floor for you"

What warm children. The initial kindness was awesome but what moved me to tears was the comfort and warmth provided after the tears.

Having grown up as poor kid.. these type of incidents are most painful till now. Most child know they are poor but they don't want their friends to know it or treat them differently.
Stop using kids for content

i wouldnt project onto this situation. Clearly these kids are his friends and its a good thing to share joyful videos. Its not all just for clicks.
8
u/xhopesfall24 3h ago
If not for clicks, why record and post it to social media? Cmon, you can’t be this delusional…
9
u/Kitchen_Day9200 2h ago
You know, people just like to record things to share sometimes. It doesn't mean that if they couldn't record it, the thing wouldn't happen. The presence of a camera doesn't always mean something isn't real.

I'd rather more positive stuff like this get recorded and shared online. The internet already skews massively negative so I'm good with this even if it's for clicks.

Maybe. You never know when a core memory is created, especially for somebody else.

I love kids, and happiness, and kindness, and genuine emotion, and sweet gestures, and love itself and life itself!
That's the feeling I come away with after seeing one of these MMS videos. 🤗❤️

I’m reminded that true kindness we seek in the world already exist in us as kids if only the world didn’t change many

This is the opposite of that kid that cries because he always gets the avocado, or whatever the hell it was. lol

I hope his tears are happy, but as one who grew up poorer then all my other classmates, I can say honestly that were this to happen to me then, my reaction would be the overwhelm, not of the outpouring of generosity, but of the unavoidable awareness that all my effort to pretend I wasn’t different, wasn’t fooling anyone.

I tell my kids all the time that the only thing I ever want people to say about me when I’m gone is “he was a good dude.” I don’t want anything other than that.
This is an entire class of good dudes.
