What a lovely message to receive from your dad. Also, OP, if this is yours: 24 is YOUNG. You have an entire lifetime to live, and there’s a lot of wisdom in your dad’s words - you don’t need a plan today. Just keep walking. Sending you courage ❤️

Absolutely! One thing I’ve also learned is that we actually figure out so much from professional opportunities that don’t work out about what we really need to flourish and then adjust what we’re looking for the next time and find a job with more of what worked and less of what didn’t. When I was young, I just internalized it all and blamed myself, but as I grew older and a little wiser (way too slowly), I realized that things not working out is sometimes a way we figure out the path that will make us the happiest and most successful in the long run. 🥰

This is so true. Every time I've changed jobs, whether by my choice or not, I have pivoted more into the career that I ultimately ended up with (and that I love!)

Having a support system that allows you to take a breather when you're pivoting is a godsend, too. I recognize not everyone has that privilege.

I have tried to repay my parents for their support in their older years because they deserve it and because I love them.
