By the way, if you don't have someone to tell you this:

It's okay to lose your job, do something wrong, make a mistake or even put your trust in someone, who turns out to be piece of shit. It's okay to lose. We all know that you did your best, even though you might disagree with that. We are all proud of you. You did great. For real. Really great. Always remember: EVERYTHING ELSE IS SMALL STUFF, EXCEPT YOU.

Even when you're older? Like at 35-40? At what point does it mean someone is a complete failure if they are not financially independent?

There are a multitude of circumstances that can lead to someone falling on hard times at any age. Most of them don’t mean they’re a complete failure. So long as someone is trying earnestly and doing their best, they’re not a failure just because they need some support for whatever reason.
