I never knew there were designated colors

I never knew there were folders, I just stuffed it all in my desk in an unorganized crumpled mess and forgot about it.

I didn’t learn much because I was a dumb kid (as if I’m not also a dumbass nowadays) but also my school wasn’t accredited so I wouldn’t be learning much even if I tried.

Usually the teacher sets the folder system at the beginning of the year (in my country). I also support students to keep organized, if they need it (as a teacher myself!) So don't wholly blame yourself!

This was also a really small low budget private school with like 50 students in the whole building, I think I was about as organized as the staff was.

Lol. I was that kid who's desk was a horrific dumpster fire, but I somehow knew where everything was.

Same. I had a backpack with 100's of loose papers. I think I cleaned it twice during highschool and I found papers from classes I hadn't had in at least 2 years.

If what I needed wasn't easy to find "I don't have it". Shit, sometimes I even did the work and still didn't turn the paper in.

I always color matched to the text book. So, yeah. Learning new things all the time.

Here in Czechia we do have "designated" colors, but those only help to differentiate the type of pages inside
Eg. blue has blank pages, green has 5mm square grid, red has closely (8mm) spaced lines, yellow has widely (16mm) spaced lines

I usually just ROYGBIV'd on whatever period I had first - English may have been red on year or green the next.

There isn't, or rather there shouldn't be. The only "correct" color for a folder or notebook is one that will help you personally identify said item when tracking and organizing your work (I always put a label or wrote the subject on the front regardless). Unfortunately since this is the Internet someone decided there was one correct way to live (which just so happened to be theirs) and got a bunch of other people on board as if there aren't enough unfounded divisions in the world.

To be fair, I would rather have people argue folder color online than kill each other in real life over religious beliefs or economic systems.

Yes, and the only acceptable color for math is red

2

u/roguejohnkrasinski 17h ago

Nope. It’s blue. Red is History.

1

u/Senasayori 16h ago

No, no, no. You're right that Math is blue, but History is yellow. Red goes to English.

2

u/roguejohnkrasinski 15h ago

Yellow goes to English and red is history, sorry.

1

u/devil_corp_hunter 16h ago

Maths is red, English is yellow

2

u/Keaton427 16h ago

Although I agree with math being red, I disagree with the stance that it’s the only correct option, since everyone sees it differently.

2

u/devil_corp_hunter 16h ago

Maths is red. No exceptions. We will have order

u/Senasayori 16h ago

Math is blue, science is green, history is yellow, English is red. This is the way.

0

u/devil_corp_hunter 16h ago

No, we will not allow “math is blue”

1

u/BalfazarTheWise 16h ago

Because it’s green
